Vegas, the start-off point for an epic road trip along Route 66 three years ago. Enchanting, almost magical, it's easy to get tempted. After giving in, I decided to try my luck at the Blackjack table. Big mistake. No matter how lucky you feel the odds are really against you. And it's pretty scary how you're chips just seem to disappear. After a dismal attempt, I decided to walk the legendary Strip, all 6 kilometers. And back. And what a visual feast.
In the heart of this urban playground, one can easily miss out on the details. Take a closer look and see Vegas in a different light...
...all you need to do is look up.
And as the afternoon light fades away, Vegas truly comes to life in a dazzling display of lights.
Each hotel property on the strip lights up, and the spectacle goes on through the night.
But the one thing you can bet on is the food. Fresh oysters, clam chowder and a cold Heineken, Pennazi Oyster Bar at Harra's.
Roast Pork and Duck Noodle Soup at Noodle Asia, The Venetian.
Gelato at The Venetian.
Kady's T-Bone Special at The Riviera. Great value, cheap eats.
The Black Angus Burger at Hubert Keller's Burger Bar, Mandalay Bay.
French Toast Brunch at The Peppermill. When in Vegas, place your bet on food, the odds are much better. Check out some good eats on this road trip at http://dude4food.blogspot.com/2011/09/driving-mother-road.html.

I love Vegas! It's not too far away from here, but I've not visited Vegas since last year. For me that's a long time. I don't gamble or anything, but there's something addictive about the city. And I love the buffet! By the way, your photos are amazing, Dude!
