An Authentic Korean Flavor Adventure at Oppa Chicken

Fried. Baked. Roasted. Sweet to peppery, savory and spicy. It's authentic Korean chicken and more served in a variety of ways, all in one place...

Oppa Chicken brings the bold and vibrant flavors from The Land of the Morning Calm with its wide range of authentic Korean dishes, including their signature chicken, ribs, salads, and pasta, each one prepared with the finest Korean ingredients and spices. The Pasig neighborhood gets a fresh infusion of rich and savory Korean flavors with Oppa Chicken, opening soon on November 28, 2016.

Located at the new Portico Pasig development, Oppa Chicken (L) adds yet another flavorful option for the metro's diners with its wide array of Korean-style chicken prepared by Chef Chanyang "Kim" An (R). Fried, baked, roasted, it's your call. Better yet, try them all and enjoy the subtle nuances of each Korean style chicken.

A local concept from No Limits Food, Inc., Oppa Chicken is a welcome addition to the metro's growing food scene. Before the formal opening on November 28, 2016, we sampled some of their signature dishes, including their line of Korean style chicken. My flavorful Korean adventure began with the refreshing Golbange Top Shell Pasta, a cold and satisfying meaty noodle dish with Oppa Chicken's signature Pork Ribs in Original Barbecue and Spicy Barbecue flavors. The cold noodles are kicked up by the rich spice blend and perfectly finished by the savory pork ribs. Filling and satisfying, it's the perfect starter before the signature mains at Oppa Chicken.

The clean and fresh flavors of a traditional Korean salad is then served next with Padak Chicken, a refreshing starter with green leeks salad and crisp fried chicken strips served with a thick, nutty and sweet sauce. The garden-fresh leeks deliver a gentle sharpness complimenting the tender, juicy, and crisp chicken strips for another light and tasty starter at Oppa Chicken. The pairing of crunchy green leeks with tender chicken combines contrasting flavors and textures in a well-balanced dish.

After quick work on the starters, we then sampled their line of signature Korean chicken, starting with the YangNyum Chicken, a popular Korean chicken variant with its mildly sweet and spicy notes. The chicken is cooked perfectly, with a juicy center capped by a lightly crisp outer layer. The YangNyum Chicken delivers intense flavors from the traditional Korean Ganjang sauce with every bite, its sweet and spicy flavors rounded out by the nutty sesame seeds.

The Crispy Baked Chicken with its unique spice blend is one of the many Korean style variants prepared with less oil for a healthier yet tasty option. The delicate notes of the baked chicken comes through without being overpowered by the subtle spice blend. Pure flavors, and refreshingly different.

The Original Fried Chicken, crispy double-fried chicken with salt and pepper, recreates classic flavors. The simple salt and pepper seasoning just brings out the pure flavors of the chicken, with its tender and juicy texture capped by the crunchy outer layer. You just can't go wrong with the classic and crunchy fried chicken...

The Oven Roasted Chicken is another tasty variant with less oil for a light yet full-flavored option at Oppa Chicken. The chicken is juicy delivering pure and clean flavors, and it's yet another take on Korean-style chicken.

GanJang Chicken, the traditional soy garlic chicken, offers familiar and comforting flavors, with the sharp notes of the soy marinade and nutty hints of the garlic weaving in a seamless blend. Drizzled with sesame seeds adding even more flavor, the bold flavors of the GanJang sauce, with its sweet, salty and mildly spicy flavors, completes the dish.

Chef Chanyang "Kim" An then served another unique chicken dish infused with the distinctly sharp notes of cheese. The Snowing Cheese Chicken combines the delicate notes of the juicy chicken with the vibrant flavors of cheese, deep-fried to a golden crispness. And the combination works, with the cheese adding a unique layer of flavor with its subtle salty notes.

And if you want some serious heat, go for the Bulsazo Chicken, nicknamed the "Atomic Bomb," intense and super fiery and hot chicken served with crisp fries to counter the spice. The tender chunks of chicken are coated in a rich glaze, releasing a spicy heat that lingers long after the last bite. The level of spice does not immediately hit you, instead, it gradually builds up draping your palate as you go for another bite.

Wash it all down with an ice-cold bottle of Tsingtao Beer for that perfect finish. "At Oppa Chicken, we aim to bring you the most authentic Chicken and Beer experience from Korea. Thanks to the ingredients that we use and the rich, complex flavors that we create, you're sure to discover the best tasting Korean chicken in the metro," says Jay Lazaro, Vice President of No Limits Food Inc. It definitely is an authentic and flavorful Korean adventure, and the range of different chicken dishes alone are more than enough reasons to visit Oppa Chicken. Fried, baked, roasted chicken in sweet to peppery, savory and spicy variants and an ice-cold Tsingtao Beer...it's all here at Oppa Chicken, opening on November 28, 2016 at Portico Pasig.
