A Sweet Reunion with Chef Cyrille Soenen's CroNaps

It's been so long, way too long, since my last bite. And you can just imagine my surprise at another chance encounter with Chef Cyrille Soenen's CroNaps...

The delicately layered, buttery and flaky dessert with a sweet glazed top and creamy custard filling brings together the unique textures of the classic croissant with the local Napoleones for a decadent fusion unlike any other. It's the kind of pastry you can only expect from the country's very own Master Chef of France (for more on the unique and inventive CroNaps by Chef Cyrille Soenen, see my previous post from two years back, Meet Chef Cyrille Soenen's New CroNaps). And that day, I get a box of an old favorite for a sweet reunion...

After a dinner preview of Chef Cyrille Soenen's new Holiday menu at Resorts World Manila's Impressions (see my post, Joyeux Noel: Christmas Flavors with a French Accent at Resorts World Manila's Impressions), guests were given one more special treat...

The bright and festive colors of the assorted glazed CroNaps invites you to dive right in, and after so long, why not? One bite through the lightly crisp, soft and chewy layers of dough lines your palate with its butter richness followed by the flavors of the smooth glaze and capped by the creamy custard filling...there's just nothing quite like it. The caramelized laminated sweet and buttery dough is delicately layered giving it a light crispness and the indulgent glaze and custard filling adds the perfect finish. And withing minutes, you just realized you worked through the entire box. And that's no surprise at all. Not with Chef Cyrille Soenen's CroNaps.

Just like Chef Cyrille Soenen's Kouign Amann (for more on Chef Cyrille Soenen's Kouign Amann, see my earlier posts, Taking Brasserie Cicou's Classic Kouign Amann To The Next Level..., This Valentine's Day, Say It With A Kouign Amann...Make That Three., and An Epic Year-Ender Lunch at Brasserie Cicou), the CroNaps transforms the delicately layered dough into a masterful bite-sized dessert. It was good to see the CroNaps one more time, and here's hoping for another sweet reunion soon...
