Bizu Patisserie & Bistro Brings Its Signature Joie de Vivre to Christmas...

For over seventeen years, Bizu Patisserie & Bistro has shared its trademark joie de vivre with its signature desserts and bistro dishes. This Christmas, experience both the sweet and savory flavors of Bizu Patisserie & Bistro...

Bistro Patisserie & Bistro recently launched their new bistro menu and their much-awaited Christmas Collection at their Greenbelt 2 branch offering its loyal customers even more tasty options in time for the holidays. Read on for a peek of the tasty new offerings at Bizu...

For years, I've always felt like the proverbial kid in a candy store each time I enter one of Bizu's branches, and this gets amplified even more as the holiday season approaches. One of my blog's very first posts featured Bizu (see my earlier post on Bizu Patisserie & Bistro, Eye Candy at Bizu, from five years back), and each return visit is as magical as the first.

Along with the new menu, Bizu also unveiled their new Christmas Collection inspired by The Nutcracker ballet, Land of Sweets: Bizu Christmas Collection 2017 (L). The festive collection reflects that same joie de vivre that Annabel Tanco and her team (R) have shared with their loyal customers for the past seventeen years.

And you can taste this passion and joy for life expressed in all of Bizu Patisserie and Bistro's elegant desserts, from their decadent truffles to cookies and tuile, brownies and revel bars, ensaymadas, fresh-baked bread and signature Macaron de Paris packed in elegant containers...

And you can thank Annabel Tanco (L) for introducing the delicate and traditional French favorite to the metro seventeen years ago. Rich buttercream sandwiched in between almond meringue shells, the Macaron de Paris has been Bizu's calling card since 2001. Today, you can enjoy so much more at Bizu, like the Pretzel Joie (R).

Once settled in, a soothing cup of freshly brewed Latte gets you in the right groove.

Inside the colorful and spacious interiors of Bizu Patisserie and Bistro, the festive hues of the season add a vibrant palette of colors. It's the kind of vibe that somehow eases the guilt when you know you shouldn't have another Blueberry Chibouste. Then again, this is Bizu, where having one more indulgent slice is a well-deserved treat.

Head Chef Alexander Tanco shared the concept behind the new menu at Bizu Patisserie, explaining that "the new menu showcases the exceptional range of authentic and international cuisine on offer at Bizu. It combines Bizu's classic dishes such as the popular 10-Hour Roast Beef and our new offerings such as our Lobster Roll with fresh lobster flown from Maine daily. The highlight of this menu is not only its innovative use of great and fresh flavors, but also the growing trends and demands of our customers." Take the Caviar and Smoked Salmon Terrine (P 675), with cream cheese wrapped in smoked salmon topped with dill and black caviar and served with crostini. The richness of the cream cheese and the smoked salmon come together in a seamless blend, with the dill and black caviar adding sharp and contrasting hints for that perfect finish.

Thw Warm Brie with Caramelized Pear (P 635) is another starter with contrasting yet delicately balanced flavors. The creamy and nutty richness of the brie are complemented by the sweet and tart notes of the caramelized pears, two distinct layers of flavors without overpowering the other. It's indulgent in that traditional Bizu fashion, with rich flavors all the way to the last bite.

I've always enjoyed the classic burrata, but Bizu Patisserie & Bistro adds their own inventive spin to the refreshing salad. The Burrata with Berries (P 675) features fresh burrata from Latteria di Ischia served with sweet and tart strawberries, dark cherries, balsamic cream, garden-fresh basil and nutty virgin olive oil. The rich and creamy notes of the fresh burrata are perfectly tempered by the bold hints of the balsamic cream and virgin olive oil, capped by the tartness of the strawberries and dark cherries. It's the lavish layers of flavors that make this dish special.

It can be difficult to find a good lobster roll in the metro, let alone one made with real Maine lobsters flown in daily. Now, you can find it here at Bizu Patisserie & Bistro...

Bizu Patisserie & Bistro's new Lobster Roll (P 895) brings the rustic flavors of the east coast with its generous chunks of Maine lobster sauteed in garlic butter with lemon aioli in a soft and buttery brioche bread. Served with a side of fresh salad or crisp fries, the Lobster Roll is an absolute must-try at Bizu Patisserie & Bistro.

The price may be a bit steep, but like they always say, you get what you pay for. And you can't lose with real Maine lobster. The briny sweetness of the lobster come through with every bite followed by an audible snap and perfectly finished by the buttery brioche. Just perfect.

The Caramelized Pear Ravioli (P 485) features handmade ravioli prepared with fresh eggs and stuffed with sweet pear and ricotta sauteed in butter, garlic, rosemary and Pecorino cheese with plump prawns, another new dish at Bizu Patisserie & Bistro for pasta lovers. The handmade ravioli is perfectly soft yet firm, with just a mild chewiness to give it a rustic texture. The sweet pear and creamy ricotta combine for a sweet and tart blend, finished by the buttery and herb notes and the prawns for a complete meal in itself.

Next, the second entree featured the new Halibut en Papillote (P 595), with a baked fillet of halibut in parchment paper draped with chardonnay cream and laid on soft Pecorino risotto. The edges of the parchment paper are lightly charred, preserving the delicate notes of the halibut. And this one tastes as good as it looks.

The halibut almost melts in your mouth coating your palate with its mild flavors. From the elegant presentation to the fresh and clean flavors, this dish is all about subtle nuances. If you're looking for a light yet flavorful option, this is it.

Bizu's all-time favorite, the Ten-Hour Roast Beef Belly (P 895) was also served. The slow roasted Angus beef belly is fork-tender, and very little effort if at all is needed for a slice. Served with potato gratin, grilled vegetables, horseradish and mushroom espagnole, one bite is all you need to remind you why you loved this dish for so long at Bizu.

A pair of tasty appetizers, a refreshing salad and four entrees later, no meal is complete without some of Bizu's elegant desserts, like the Raspberry Infused Marshmallow, Espresso con panna Macaron de Paris, Petit Samba, Italian Pistachio Macaron de Paris, and Orange Blossom Infused Marshmallow. And it just doesn't get better than that. The new dishes are a welcome addition to Bizu Patisserie & Bistro's current menu, each prepared in that elegant style that made it a top-of-mind dining destination for the last seventeen years. And with the holidays just around the corner, it's also a good time to check out Bizu's Christmas offerings at their FB Page here at https://www.facebook.com/ilovebizu/.
