Feed your eyes and palate with a celebration of local flavors and fashion at Crowne Plaza's Seven Corners Buffet Restaurant...

Crowne Plaza, in collaboration with the Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines, joins the nationwide celebration for Independence Day with Likha: Taste of Philippine Heritage & Fashion at Seven Corners Buffet Restaurant starting June 11 to 17, 2018 for a unique week-long experience of Filipino flavors and culture. Read on for a tasty peek...

As the entire country celebrates Independence Day, Crowne Plaza peels a layer from our colorful history and culture in a celebration of local flavors and fashion with Likha: Taste of Philippine Heritage & Fashion at Seven Corners Buffet Restaurant, a treat for both the eye and palate.

The classic Terno and Barong are given a fresh and updated reinterpretation by members of the Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines highlighted in an exhibit at Crowne Plaza as part of the hotel's week-long Independence Day celebrations. The blend of fashion and cuisine is an experience in itself...

...and you can rediscover this rich tapestry of colors and flavors at Crowne Plaza. Top management from Crowne Plaza and members of the Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines welcomed guests to the launch of Likha: Taste of Philippine Heritage & Fashion last July 11 to kick-off the festive week-long celebration at Seven Corners Buffet Restaurant. Previously, Crowne Plaza also collaborated with the Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines for the Chinese New Year celebration (see my earlier post here at Welcome The Year of the Dog at Crowne Plaza Manila). The seamless blend of distinct Filipino elements becomes an immersive sensory experience at Seven Corners Buffet restaurant.

The intricate beads and detailed handcrafted lacework behind each elegant Terno is a unique story in itself, with each designer drawing inspiration from local, indigenous materials for an inspired collection. The entire ensemble of classic Ternos and Barongs can be viewed at Crown Plaza's lobby leading to Seven Corners Buffet Restaurant.

The same spirit and dedication is executed by the chefs of Crowne Plaza's Seven Corners Buffet Restaurant with their interpretation of a sumptuous Filipino feast...

Along with the stunning creations from the Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines, the chefs of Seven Corners Buffet Restaurant will impress you with their own culinary creations, taking you back with nostalgic local favorites. During the launch, we sampled a preview of their comforting Filipino dishes.

Enjoy tasty starters with a plate loaded with classic Filipino Street Food...

...from Squid Balls to Tokneneng, deep-fried and battered quail eggs with that distinctive orange tint. Pick a skewer and load up, and drizzle your skewers with the mandatory sauces. A spicy vinegar dip for the Squid Balls and a thick sweet and mildly spicy sauce for the Tokneneng. Perfect.

But there's more. Fish Balls and crispy Chicken Skin Chicharon complete your nostalgic plate of tasty starters. The flavors are reminiscent of the local urban street experience, with colorful carts hawking their specialties. And you get to relive those experiences in the comfort of Seven Corners Buffet Restaurant.

And for those who dare, Balut was also available at the buffet spread, kept warm in a traditional straw basket. In between bites, have a refreshing salad with your choice of dressing to cleanse the palate before the next round of comfortingly familiar Filipino Street Food at Seven Corners Buffet Restaurant...

Fresh from the grill, indulge in a savory selection of Pork and Chicken Barbecue, Adidas, IUD, Helmet, and Betamax. The local street food scene is known for using parts often discarded and transforming it for a new flavor experience. The witty names behind many of these street food favorites are part of the fun.

At the Silog Station, diners can enjoy another hearty Filipino staple of garlic fried rice and egg paired with Beef Tapa, Pork Tocino, Adobo, Daing na Bangus, Longganisa, Corned Beef or Sisig. It's one of those typically Filipino meals that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch or dinner all day long. Prepared a la minute and served on a sizzling plate, it just doesn't get better than this.

At the Fresh Seafood Station, load up on the day's freshest catch with succulent Crabs and Curracha, or spanner crabs from down south.

Add some fresh and plump Mussels and Prawns to your catch and have it grilled, baked or lightly sauteed in butter and garlic. Located right beside the Japanese Station, why not have some Tempura, Sushi and Sashimi too? Freshness and variety, served daily at Seven Corners Buffet Restaurant.

You can get back on track with even more local flavors at Seven Corners Buffet Restaurant, from Tokwa't Baboy and Spicy Dilis...

...to savory mains like Bistek Tagalog and Rellenong Alimango paired with Tinapa Fried Rice. That evening, a whole roasted suckling pig was also served at the Carving Station, proving to be one of the more popular stations with never-ending queues.

My favorites? The Guinataang Laing, Bicol Express, Rellenong Alimango and Kare-Kare, comforting homestyle local flavors that just hits the spot.

Seven Corners Buffet Restaurant also offers an extensive buffet spread of international favorites, including Japanese cuisine and premium roasted meats at the Carving Station. Simply take a walk along the convenient linear layout of Seven Corners Buffet Restaurant and have your fill. And come back for more.

For dessert, cap your all-Filipino feast with local kakanin and suman and other traditional rice cakes. The familiar Egg Pie, a favorite from nostalgic neighborhood bakeries, was also served. Guests can also choose from a wide variety of international dessert selections at Seven Corners Buffet Restaurant.

Or why not end your feast with an indulgent scoop of homemade Gelato, specially crafted by the chefs of Seven Corners Buffet Restaurant? Comforting local flavors from nostalgic street food favorites to fresh seafood, savory mains and traditional desserts, Likha: Taste of Philippine Heritage & Fashion is a unique and flavorful way to celebrate Independence Day. Celebrate the nation's Independence Day with a lavish feast for both the eye and palate at Seven Corners Buffet Restaurant's Likha: Taste of Philippine Heritage & Fashion, starting June 11, 2018. But better hurry, it's just a week-long celebration so book early...
