...it's time to get messy at Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps. Davao pride is alive and well with the opening of Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps' third branch in SM City Davao. Day two of a memorable Davao adventure gets into high gear with even more crabs and shrimps...
The story of Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps is an inspiring one, and when a local, homegrown concept makes it, everybody wins. I got to try Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps in their first branch outside Davao at SM North Edsa's The Block back in August last year (more on my previous post, From Davao to Manila: Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps Opens at The Block), but experiencing the local vibe at their very first location in Lanang was equally special (see my post, From Sea to Table: A Taste of Davao's Best at Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps). At their newest branch, new offerings were served, including their tasty Crab Turnovers (P 177)...
...and Kamote Fries (P 69), crisp deep-fried sweet potatoes...
...and savory Crab and Shrimp Rolls (P 259).
In its new mall setting, Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps' diverse menu continues to evolve while retaining the core of their signature dishes.
After the last round of questions from the local press, it was time, the moment everyone eagerly waited for, as Kenneth Haw, Anthony Ang, and Jennifer Ang formally raise the metal crab mallet to open the third branch of Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps at SM City Davao, and the feast began...
The staff then preps the diners and guests with their plastic bibs, a tradition at Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps. After all, it is fun to be messy at Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps. Table set and bibs checked, it's time to get serious. And messy...
A bowl of their signature Spicy Gumbo Soup (P 189), a thick and hearty broth with a soothing heat loaded with fresh seafood and vegetables, always works for me at Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps.
A refreshing bowl of sweet and tart Pomelo Salad, with fresh shrimps and spring onions whets your appetite with its sharp notes...
...but if you want some pork love with your fresh fish, Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps' popular Sinuglaw (P 434) should do the trick.
At the opening, Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps also served their all-time favorite, Garlic Pork Riblets (P 499), with tender pork ribs marinated in native vinegar, salt, fresh-ground black pepper and sauteed in fresh butter with loads of garlic, great with an ice-cold beer.
And you're just about ready for the main courses at Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps. The new Crabs in Salted Egg (prices based on prevailing market rates), with deep-fried crabs in butter draped in crunchy garlic and cubes of salted egg, offers fresh and clean flavors with the briny sweetness of the crab complemented by the distinct notes of the salted egg and nutty garlic. Extra rice? Yes, please.
Another new must-try dish at Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps is the Shrimps in Garlic Lemon Butter Sauce (P 573). Butter, garlic, and lemon with seafood, what else is there to say?
Saving the best for last...
...with still so much more crabs to crack.
But the day was far from from over. That afternoon, the kitchen prepped for a grand dinner to formally open Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps at SM City Davao, with over 350 kilos of fresh crabs and hundreds more of shrimps for a massive seafood feast...
