A Surf & Turf Kind of Sunday at Stoned Steaks

When slow Sunday afternoons leave you craving for just a little sizzle, you'll need a few ingredients to make it all happen...

A premium slab of beef, succulent shrimps and a sizzling hot lava stone, it's a Surf & Turf kind of Sunday at Stoned Steaks.

When you're greeted by a friendly server wearing a black shirt with the text "Certified Stoner," you just know this is a special place. And it is. Located along Scout Rallos in Quezon City, Stoned Steaks, raises the stakes (or in this case, steaks) with its selection of premium beef perfectly finished on a fiery hot and sizzling lava stone.

Inside Stoned Steaks, diners can't miss the special dry-aging boxes showcasing their finest steaks...

...including their Prime Ribeye...

...and Wagyu Ribeye (for more on Stoned Steaks, see my previous post, A Sip with the Sizzle: An Elegant Wine Pairing Dinner at Stoned Steaks' The Wine Room). Stoned Steaks offers a wide selection of both primal cuts, dry-aged Wagyu and USDA Prime Steaks meticulously aged and finished on their hot lava stone. Stoned Steaks adheres to the old-school method of hand carving each slab of premium dry-aged beef for exceptional flavor and richness. The hot lava stone does its magic on the steak, evenly searing the beef and locking in all the juices. Served right on your table, you can have your steak prepared to your preferred doneness. But it's the sizzle and fragrant aroma of a premium slab of beef on a hot lava stone that makes dining at Stoned Steaks special.

Our meal at Stoned Steaks began with a refreshing bowl of their signature Caesar Salad (P 320) with crisp greens draped in a rich, thick and flavorful Caesar dressing topped with croutons, bacon bits and Parmesan.

Stoned Steaks also offers a selection of seafood dishes, like the Grilled Salmon (P 625), a delicately grilled slab of premium salmon with fresh and clean flavors complemented by a side of tart salsa and a pair of sauces including herb butter. The delicate notes of the salmon are complimented, not overwhelmed, by the sides. When it's good salmon, you don't need to complicate the flavors.

The salmon is perfectly grilled, remaining soft and moist with its buttery richness capped by flavorful hints of smoke from the grill. Stoned Steaks serves other seafood dishes for even more options, including Oyster Rockefeller (P 380), Seafood Spinach Pesto (P 490), Seafood Arrabiata (P 510) and Seafood Jambalaya (P 425).

A few more bites of warm fresh-baked rolls with butter sets up your palate for the Surf & Turf...

The servers prepped the hot lava stone on a cart, adding dabs of herbed butter before laying on the Angus Tenderloin and shrimps (L) and almost immediately, the sound of the sizzle and fragrant buttery notes excites your palate. The sauces were also served including the Signature Stoned Sauce, Salt & Pepper and  Herbed Butter (R)...

The Angus Tenderloin with Shrimp (P 980) sizzles on the hot lava stone adding that signature vibe of Stoned Steaks, a sensory experience of sight and sound followed by the tempting aroma of butter-seared premium beef and shrimps.

It just takes minutes, even seconds, for the shrimps to transform from dull grey to vibrant orange on the hot lava stone as the slab of Angus Tenderloin gently sizzles...

...and a dab of butter amplifies the sound of your table-top grill.

The plump and succulent shrimps deliver rich briny notes accompanied by a fresh snap with every bite...

...while another dab of butter adds the finishing touch to the Angus Tenderloin for bold, beefy flavors. Tender with just a subtle bite, the lean Angus Tenderloin completes your Surf & Turf with a savory richness that can only come from that sizzling finish on a hot lava stone. For the sides, Stoned Steaks offers Steak Fried Rice, Kimchi Fried Rice, Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Mac and Cheese, Steak Fries, Buttered Vegetables, Herb Potato Wedges and Spinach Mascarpone. Slow Sunday afternoons perked up by a refreshing sizzle, just can't get better than that. When's your Surf & Turf kind of day?
