The Whole Nine Yards: Brotzeit Philippines Celebrates Nine Long Years in the Country with the Longest Oktoberfest Season

The end of September marks the beginning of one of the most anticipated festivals in the world. It's Oktoberfest at Brotzeit...

Brotzeit Philippines kicks off its milestone ninth anniversary with the longest Oktoberfest celebration starting September 12 to October 29, 2022. One of the country's enduring and authentic German beer bars for almost a decade, Brotzeit pulls all the stops for an epic Oktoberfest bash complete with exciting games and awesome prizes daily. Now that's reason enough to raise a toast...

My blog's own journey includes Brotzeit which I first featured way back nine year ago (see my very first first post, Prost! Good Times at Brotzeit German Bier bar & Restaurant from 2013). Since then, Brotzeit has been the spot for legit Oktoberfest celebrations nine years in a row (for more on Oktoberfest at Brotzeit, see my posts, ECQ Eats: A Toast to Oktoberfest in the New Normal at Brotzeit from last year, Prost! Cheers to Endless Rounds of Good Vibes, It's Oktoberfest at Brotzeit from 2019 just before the pandemic and Oktoberfest at Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant from way back in 2013). With a new branch in Alabang set to open later this week, Brotzeit is all set to rule the metro's Oktoberfest scene with more than just a bang.

A ice-cold Paulaner straight from the tap at your table sets the mood for the evening's festivities...

...with endless rounds of good times. In true Bavarian fashion, Brotzeit Philippines celebrates the much-anticipated Oktoberfest celebrations with authentic German beer, sumptuous German cuisine and a whole lot of good vibes for that traditional and proper celebration. And this year, guests and diners can enjoy the Oktoberfest vibe from September 12 all the way to October 29. That's the whole nine yards. And for the milestone ninth anniversary of Brotzeit, nothing less will do.

So raise a toast and celebrate nine long years of good times with the equally long and extended Oktoberfest celebrations at Brotzeit. Refreshingly crisp and soothing on the palate with just enough bite at the back of your throat, each sip takes you back to the origins of the grand celebration that began in 1810 in Bavaria. Brotzeit faithfully recreates the tradition with authenticity, from their exclusive selection of Paulaner brews to hearty fare prepared by top chef Ivan Maminta.

For a limited time, diners can enjoy the unique flavors of the special "smoky beer" or Schlenkerla Marzen imported from Bamberg, Germany for a cool twist in a festive day of endless rounds and celebrations. Each sip drapes the palate with a subtle and almost chocolatey sweetness rounded out by a bold smoky finish and just a whisper of mild bitter hints. It's the perfect libation to open up the palate for the savory Oktoberfest offerings at Brotzeit...

And nothing pairs better with beer than pork and potatoes. The classic Kasekrainer (P 520) with its blend of pork and cheese served with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut is just what you need to get into the Oktoberfest vibe.

My personal all-time pick at Brotzeit has to be the traditional Weißwurst (P 410) or pork and veal sausages in a light broth served with a crusty pretzel. Infused with the distinct notes of juniper berries, carrots and bay leaf, the broth warms the palate with its subtle richness. A bite of the pork and veal sausages is announced by an audible snap delivering a savory richness perfectly finished by a cold sip of Paulaner. Never fails. And for the past nine years, these pork and veal sausages in a light broth has been a favorite of mine since I first covered Brotzeit on the blog.

Brotzeit rolls out new and special dishes made just for Oktoberfest, like the Bayrischer Schweinskrustenbraten (P 900) or tender and juicy pork belly with a lightly crisp layer of crackling served with sauerkraut, red cabbage and potato dumplings. Laid on a wooden board, the new dish tempts the eyes before the palate...

Each bite delivers both textural contrasts and rich savory notes complemented by the sharp flavors of the sauerkraut and mellowed by the potato dumplings for another satisfying dish at Brotzeit. Is there anything better than a crisp and juicy slab of pork belly?

The Bayricher Leberkäse (P 420) is a Bavarian style meatloaf topped with egg and served with creamy spinach and mashed potatoes offering yet another savory option for your Oktoberfest celebration. Thick and juicy with bold savory notes, the meatloaf is richly seasoned without being overwhelmingly salty like the usual meatloaf. The egg adds even more layers of richness to the dish, pairing well with the creamy spinach and mashed potatoes.

But it just isn't Oktoberfest at Brotzeit without the mandatory and impressive platter of assorted savory indulgences. And this year's Oktoberfest edition introduces the impressive Oktoberfestplatte (P 3,500) with Schweinshaxn or the signature pork knuckle, Nürnberger Stadwurst, Thüringer Sausages, Fried Chicken and Bayricher Leberkäse or meatloaf served and presented in a long wooden board. Just running through the different components of the board can be a mouthful, and absolutely makes you hungry.

Served with all the sides including crisp Fries, German Mashed Potatoes and Fried Onions, the massive and impressive Oktoberfestplatte is a festive addition to your Oktobestfest celebration at Brotzeit. Food is an integral part of the Oktoberfest experience, and Brotzeit makes it a real celebration with its long list of traditional Bavarian classics. Pass the mustard and pour another round of Paulaner, your Oktoberfest celebrations is kicked up a notch with the Oktoberfestplatte

The seemingly endless loops of Thüringer Sausages with its delicate smoky hints from the grill packs a flavorful punch...

...while the Nürnberger Stadwurst with course ground beef and pork offers serious bites with intense flavors. And that's no surprise. Authentic sausages have been part of the Brotzeit experience since the very beginning.

In between bites, enjoy contrasting textures with the crisp and juicy Fried Chicken with a fresh squeeze of lemon prepared Brotzeit style...

...along with another slice of the Bayricher Leberkäse or meatloaf. This is quickly becoming another addition to my growing list of must-haves at Brotzeit. Meatier that the regular and usual variety with a firm bite, the Bayricher Leberkäse simply elevates your meatloaf experience.

Then, there's the signature pork knuckles or Schweinshaxn. I've written about this specialty dish quite a number of times, and it just never fails to tease the palate (for more on the Schweinshaxn, see my post Three Must-Try Dishes at Brotzeit from 2014).

Crisp on the outside and juicy inside, the natural sweetness of the pork comes through without being overwhelmingly salty like the more familiar local version. This allows you to enjoy and appreciate the clean and uncluttered pork flavors with each bite. Now how about another round of Paulaner?

Another round of cold brews is the cue for even more exciting stuff at Brotzeit...

Bring you buddies and test your skills with a series of fun games for a chance to win awesome prizes...

...and showcase your hidden strength to see who's king of the hill. A few more rounds of Paulaner for that much needed boost becomes part of the plan at the numerous Oktoberfest games at Brotzeit.

It's Oktoberfest and everyone's a winner at Brotzeit, and you have the whole month of October to catch the Oktoberfest fever.

From fresh brews on tap to hearty and sumptuous Bavarian fare plus cool games and prizes, Brotzeit goes the whole nine yards to celebrate its milestone ninth year in the country and the Oktoberfest in one epic month. Ready to raise a toast? Prost!
