Step inside their fourth location in Rockwell for Breakfast with a twist. And cocktails with appetizing dishes too with the Party At Night menu. Read on for a sneak peek...

Breakfast with a Cool Thai Twist

The blend of both traditional flavors with an inspired and playfully inventive modern twist gives Greyhound Cafe its unique and distinctive appeal for a refreshingly new dining experience (for more on Greyhound Cafe, see my previous posts Born in Bangkok: Greyhound Cafe Comes To Manila at SM Aura Premier on their very first location from May last year and Authentic Thai Flavors and the World's Best Noodle Dish Comes to Ortigas with the Opening of Greyhound Cafe at The Podium from late last year).

This creative culinary spin is showcased in a lavish array of hearty Thai style breakfast dishes at the new Rockwell location like the Bangkok Street Fried Rice (P 499), a solid meal to start your day with bacon, Chinese sausage, shrimp, squid, cherry tomatoes and kale topped with fried duck egg on soft fried rice. Inspired by the popular street food staple back in Bangkok, the dish comes with a bowl of soup and a side of fresh vegetables with dipping sauce for that perfect start any time of day.

Each ingredient brings its own distinct flavor that just pops in your mouth with every spoonful, with the soft and fluffy fried rice absorbing all the richness and different notes of the various toppings. If you love your usual silog, you'll love the Bangkok Street Fried Rice guaranteed with its savory toppings of pork, seafood and fried duck egg for an indulgent yet hearty rendition on street style flavors. Other rice topping options include the Khao Tom Hang (P 399) or rice porridge and Chicken in Brown Sauce with Rice (P 599).

Nothing like a comforting bowl of warm broth to start your day, and the Morning Bangkok Rice Bowl (P 360) gets you right on track for the day ahead. The hearty Thai-style rice soup loaded with minced pork balls, crispy pork crackling and poached egg with garlic, chopped ginger and fresh scallions in a light yet flavorful broth warms the palate with its savory richness. The play on contrasting textures and weave of rich flavors makes this dish another breakfast winner at Greyhound Cafe.

In between bites, why not go for one of Greyhound Cafe's popular and bestselling starters like the Salmon Sashimi in Spicy Hot Sauce (P 380) topped with their specialty lime sauce. The fresh and clean flavors cleanses the palate, opening it up for the bold savory notes of Greyhound Cafe's other breakfast offerings...

...like the GHC Chicken Rice (P 539), Greyhound Cafe's own creative spin on an Asian classic with tender chicken breast draped in a light yet flavorful sauce served with soft herbed rice topped with crispy chicken skin and a side of marinated cucumbers in sesame oil. The flavors are more delicate and nuanced, with a dip in one of the three sauces adding a layer of punchy notes. It's a deceptively light dish, but it hits all the right notes.

Straight from the streets of Bangkok, the Thai-Style BBQ Pork (P 420) with skewers of grilled pork marinated in coconut milk served with Khao-Jee, grilled sticky rice coated with egg and Jaew sauce is another solid breakfast option. Who doesn't love pork barbecue, right? The tart and mildly sharp Jaew sauce cuts through the savory richness of the skewered pork for a balanced finish. The dense and sticky texture of the grilled rice with its subtle smoky hints from the grill completes the dish.

Other tasty breakfast offerings at Greyhound Cafe include the Pan-Fried Eggs (P 550) with a savory trifecta of Italian, low-fat Chinese and local sausages served with crisp Parmesan toast and a side of cherry tomato salsa and the Golden Fried Pork (P 490) with slab of fork-tender fried pork sirloin.

Greyhound Cafe also offers a wide selection of fresh fruit juices and beverages to pair with your breakfast like this soothing Passion Fashion (P 300) with its blend of passion fruit, pineapple, lime juice and mint syrup.

You can also enjoy freshly brewed coffee or why not reward yourself with an Espresso Float (P 260)?

Sip, Bite and Party At Night

A different vibe takes over Greyhound Cafe when the sun goes down. And there's a whole new selection to match the mood with their Party At Night Menu.

But first, a refreshing cocktail. Just like Greyhound Cafe's menu of fresh fruits, coffee and tea selection, the cocktail menu offers interesting choices as well. Party at Night? Game on...

The Jack Daniel's Sour (P 390) is my pick at Greyhound Cafe with its bright and tart hints smoothened by the deep smoky notes of Tennessee Whiskey. Smooth and easy with its distinctive sour finish, this Jack Daniel's Sour is the perfect libation for Party At Night at Greyhound Cafe.

Perhaps a Mimosa (P 350) is more your thing...

...or maybe the sweet Strawberry Sour (P 350), Greyhound Cafe has a specialty cocktail with your name on it. Other libations include the Mojito (P 350), the GHC (P 490), Margarita on the Rocks (P 390), Gin Fizz (P 450), Snow White (P 490), Long Island Iced Tea (P 390), Gin Tonic (P 350), Vodka Tonic (P 290), Screw Driver (P 290), Punch with Gin (P 350) and Punch with Vodka (P 290).

It's not a party without tasty bites, and the new Party At Night menu of Greyhound Cafe in Rockwell has an appetizing and savory line-up for that perfect tipple....

...starting with the aptly named Chubby Wontons (P 399), deep-fried dumplings revealing its juicy filling of pork balls under the wrapper hence the name. Laid on a mound of delicately crisp wontons and served with sweet chili sauce, these Chubby Wontons pair well with the cocktails or the beer selection at Greyhound Cafe.

The savory notes of the pork balls linger on the palate followed by a delectable crunch from the crisp wontons for another tasty play on textural contrasts and flavors with each bite. The sweetness of the chili sauce adds one more layer of flavor with each bite, perfectly washed down by your cocktail of choice. This calls for another Jack Daniel's Sour, don't you think?

The DIY Crab Sandwich (P 990) is an indulgent and creamy dish with succulent stir-fried crab meat, shimeji mushrooms, celery, tomatoes and Parmesan slathered in a white cream sauce and served with crisp toasted baguette. The dish is then topped with Gruyere and baked for that soft golden brown velvety smooth crust.

The briny sweetness of the crab meat comes through with each bite followed by the tart sweetness of the cherry tomatoes and creamy finish from the Parmesan and Gruyere cheese blend. All the ingredients come together in a seamless weave for an indulgent dish paired with cocktails.

The Sizzling Sour Pork (P 599) is another personal pick from the Party At Night menu of Greyhound Cafe. The homemade fermented slab brings a savory sourness to the palate complementing the juicy richness of the pork. Served on a sizzling cast-iron pan with fresh vegetables, the Sizzling Sour Pork has a sausage-like flavor and texture to tease the palate.

The fermented pork brings a distinct yet smooth flavor, capped by a tender bite with a fresh and succulent snap. The sides of garlic, peanuts and fiery chilies add even more layers of contrasting textures and flavors. Pure, solid and unrestrained notes, and those are serious chilies with its vibrant burst of soothing heat.

It's not a Thai dining experience without the Thai Pandan Chicken (P 580), the classic chicken dish wrapped in fragrant pandan leaves. Served with a sweet sesame sauce, the tender and juicy marinated chicken delivers comfortingly familiar and flavorful notes with each bite.

The Moo Rong Hai (P 580) is a real beauty, with a charcoal-grilled slab of juicy pork belly draped in a Thai secret sauce sprinkled with roasted rice and served with Jaew sauce and fresh vegetables. Simply wrap a fork-tender slice of pork belly with garden-fresh greens and vegetables with the Jaew sauce and enjoy. The natural savory sweetness of the pork comes through with smoky hints from the charcoal grill and lightly charred edges, perfectly finished by the fresh crispness of the vegetables and Jaew sauce. This one's a solid number from the Party At Night menu of Greyhound Cafe

Other must-try items on the new Party At Night menu of Greyhound Cafe include the Chicken Chicharon (P 450), Spicy Beans Salad (P 275), Crispy Rice Crackers with Thai Dip (P 650), Hot & Spicy Pork & Beef Balls (P 490), Charcoal Grilled Meat Balls Sticks (P 799) and Very Zap Wings (P 420).

Then, there's the all-time classics from the current menu of Greyhound Cafe in case you're still hungry like the Spicy Seafood Poh-Tak Hot Pot (P 990) with plump and succulent black mussels, tiger prawns, jumbo crab, meat, scallops, squid and enoki mushrooms in a light and spicy sour broth with your choice of rice or vermicelli noodles.

A bowl of this spicy sour soup loaded with meat and seafood becomes a sumptuous feast to cap a few rounds of cocktails at Greyhound Cafe. It's the perfect ending to Party At Night. One more cocktail for the road?

And the classic Phad Thai with Fresh Shrimp (P 450) just for good measure. The intense flavors and play on textural contrasts takes you to the busy streets of Bangkok with just one bite followed by a soothing and lingering heat from the chilies.

And don't forget dessert. The Butterfly Pea Sakoo with Coconut Sherbet (P 190) is just what you need to end the night at Greyhound Cafe with a lusciously creamy finish. From dusk till dawn. Not quite, but better. Breakfast with a Thai twist and Party At Night open up infinite dining possibilities at the Rockwell location of Greyhound Cafe.
