Lass uns Essen! The New Lunch Specials at Brotzeit

Nineteen new dishes for a memorable lunch at Brotzeit...let's eat!

Chef Ivan Maminta unveiled nineteen new dishes as part of the new Lunch Specials at Brotzeit, including starters and salads to savory mains. There's a whole lot to choose from, so make it lunch at Brotzeit for a satisfying meal with a cold brew...

Brotzeit has been serving authentic Bavarian cuisine along with premium Paulaner beer since 2014, making it one of the metro's favorites for a savory meal and a cold beer (for more on Brotzeit, see my earlier posts, Let It Rain: Recovery Food at Brotzeit on comforting Bavarian dishes, Guten Apetit! Brotzeit's New Valentine's and Lenten Specials on their previous festive seasonal offerings, A Quick Bite and a Cold Brew: Brotzeit's New Sandwiches on their tasty sandwiches, Three Must-Try Favorites at Brotzeit on their classic all-time savory favorites, and Taste The Flavors of the Bavarian Spring with Brotzeit's Maifest Lunch Specials on their spring-inspired dishes). This year, Brotzeit adds yet another reason to stop by for lunch. Make that nineteen tasty and flavorful reasons...

Start your dining experience at Brotzeit with a refreshing glass of Paulaner Dunkel Hefe Weissbier (Klein (0.3 liter)-P 165 before 6pm/P 200 after 6pm, Halbe (0.5 liter)-P 250 before 6pm/P 300 after 6pm, Mass (1 Liter)-P 445 before 6pm/P 540 after 6pm) with its fresh, clean yet bold full-bodied notes of roasted malt to open up your palate before the lunch feast, a personal favorite.

Our exclusive lunch preview of Brotzeit's new Lunch Specials began with the Thunfisch or Seared Tuna (P 420), sesame crusted tuna delicately seared with a juicy pink center served with roasted vegetables and quinoa risotto. The fresh, briny sweetness of the tuna come through with each bite, capped by the nutty notes of the quinoa prepared in a unique risotto style for rich flavors. It's a meal in itself, ideal for health-conscious diners. It's also a great side to pair with Brotzeit's other savory mains.

Pair your meal with a hearty salad like the Korn und Garneln or Grilled Sweet Corn and Prawn Salad (P 375), a refreshing starter with grilled corn and poached prawns with baby spinach drizzled in Brotzeit's flavorful house dressing...

...or the Blumenkohl Salat or Warm Beetroot and Cauliflower Salad (P 420), a filling salad with roasted beetroot, pumpkin, cauliflower and walnuts with garden-fresh crisp lettuce tossed with sharp balsamic dressing. Both salads offer fresh yet distinct flavors pairing well with your savory main dish and a cold beer.

Our lunch preview at Brotzeit shifts to high gear with Chef Ivan Maminta's sumptuous Garnele or Shrimp Thermidor (P 450) with plump and succulent gratinated shrimps draped in a rich and creamy sauce served with toasted bread. The fresh shrimps deliver a fresh snap with every bite, releasing a briny sweetness followed by the creamy richness of the sauce. Don't forget to scoop up the thick sauce with the toast for a burst of vibrant flavors. And don't be surprised if you find yourself cleaning up the skillet with the toast for more of that flavorful sauce.

The new Lunch specials at Brotzeit also includes sandwiches like the Brotzeit Burger (P 275) with a savory 1/3 pound mustard-infused all beef patty topped with bbq sauce, garlic mayo and lettuce on a pretzel bun served with gherkins and richly seasoned potatoes. It's Brotzeit's unique take on the classic burger, with the thick and juicy patty delivering all the rich and beefy goodness you love punctuated by a hint of spicy mustard. The smoky bbq sauce and garlic mayonnaise combine for even more layers of flavor capped by the sharpness of the onions and gherkins. Just perfect. The pretzel bun and crisp potatoes with its rich blend of seasonings complete the dish.

Chef Ivan Maminta draws inspiration from the classic New York deli favorite with his take on The Reuben (P 400) with tender and briny beef pastrami topped with emmental cheese on crusty sourdough bread served with potatoes. The intense flavors of the mildly salty beef pastrami are tempered by the rich notes of the emmental for balanced flavors, and perfectly finished by the sourdough bread. The sourdough, pastrami and cheese combo comes together for a light yet satisfying meal pairing well with a cold Paulaner Dunkel Hefe Weissbier. Think of it as New York deli meets Bavarian. And it works.

Enjoy breakfast all-day long with Brotzeit's new Fruhstuck or All-Day Breakfast (P 350), a hefty dish with grilled garlic sausage, Bavarian beans, crisp bacon, two eggs, and toasted bread served on a skillet. It's like having all your breakfast favorites in one dish. And the real fun begins when you gently dip the runny egg yolk with toast and let it run to mix with the beans, bacon and garlic sausages. That's breakfast, Brotzeit style. Just can't get better than that.

But it does. The Rostbratwurst or Oven-Baked Eggs and Sausages (P 350) is another tasty option with savory lamb sausages and two eggs baked in a rich and flavorful red pepper gravy served with crusty rye bread. The red pepper gravy just binds all the other components of the dish together in a richly flavored dish. The deep and savory notes of the lamb sausages pair so well with the red pepper sauce and eggs, you just might want some extra rye bread to scoop it all up.

The new Lunch Specials at Brotzeit include three comforting pasta dishes, like the Schwarzwalder Schinken Rahm Nudeln or Black Forest Ham with Flat Noodles (P 295) combining the delectable salty hints of Black Forest Ham with a creamy sauce topped with a delicately poached egg...

...the Rindergulasch Nudeln or Beef Goulash with Flat Noodles (P 350) with the bold flavors of fork-tender stewed beef brisket and peppers...

...and the Wurst Mit Speck or Sausage Medallions (P 350) with bacon-wrapped garlic sausage and fettuccine in aglio oglio and pesto grated Parmesan, each one a winning pasta dish. From the freshly baked toasted bread to the soft yet firm noodles, each plate is masterfully executed delivering a comforting richness, perfectly washed down with another glass of Paulaner Dunkel Hefe Weissbier.

Smoked ham, seafood or pulled pork? Chef Ivan Maminta also offered savory crepes as part of the new Brotzeit Lunch Specials for even more tasty options...

...like the Schinken und Kase Kreppe or Smoked Ham and Cheese Crepe (P 270) with ham and emmental cheese....

...the light yet refreshing Meeresfruchte Kreppe or Seafood Crepe (P 300) with smoked salmon, tuna, prawns and crisp salad lettuce in sour cream...

...and the Gezogenese Schweinefleische Kreppe or Pulled Pork Crepe with tender and juicy bbq pork, Japanese cucumbers, onions, and lettuce served with gherkins for a winning savory trifecta of tasty crepes. Each crepe offers unique flavors with the smoked ham, seafood or bbq pulled pork variant to suit your craving.

But there's more. Chef Ivan Maminta spins his inventive take on the classic burger steak with his Gebratenes Hackfleisch or Broiled Ground Beef (P 295) with a juicy and savory all-beef patty topped with emmental and draped in rich mushroom gravy served with roasted potatoes and vegetables. The massive patty at the center of the skillet is an impressive sight, and one bite is all you need to know that Chef Ivan has another winner. The rich beefy flavors of the broiled ground beef and the mushroom sauce offer a comforting blend of flavors, capped by the fresh roasted vegetables and potatoes for another perfect lunch at Brotzeit.

Pork & beans? Make that Schweinefleisch und Bohnen (P 350), a masterful recreation of the classic with hefty slabs of crisp pork belly laid on Bavarian stewed beans, roasted vegetables and steamed white rice. It's a leveled-up version of the familiar favorite, made even better with crunchy pork belly slabs and roasted vegetables. And that's what makes the new Lunch Specials at Brotzeit different, as Chef Ivan adds his own Brotzeit spin making the comfortingly familiar refreshingly new.

The Reisfleich or Stewed Pork (P 265) is another savory meal guaranteed to satisfy any hefty appetite with tender stewed pork on rice, roasted vegetables, steamed potatoes and Parmesan. Pork and rice combine for another tasty meal at Brotzeit, with fresh roasted vegetable, potatoes and Parmesan completing the dish. The generous portion makes this quite a meal, but another round of Paulaner Dunkel Hefe Weissbier will get you going all the way to the last bite.

The Jagerschnitzel or Hunter Pork Cutlet (P 350) is the classic Bavarian-style breaded pork cutlet with mushroom sauce and potatoes offering both flavor and textural contrasts in one satisfying dish. Brotzeit offers some of the best schnitzels in the metro, and you can now enjoy one of their all-time favorites with the new Lunch Specials. Tender and juicy with that lightly crisp outer layer of fine breading, you get clean flavors followed by the nutty richness of the mushroom sauce. Just perfect.

Other savory meals include the Mittags Wurstplatte (P 350) with three of Brotzeit's signature sausages served with a choice of two sides. That's a whole lot of tasty options, nineteen new dishes to be exact, for that satisfying lunch at Brotzeit.

Cap your Bavarian lunch with a soothing Heisse Schokolade (160) made with premium bittersweet dark chocolate topped with whipped cream...

...or why not have one last round of Paulaner Dunkel Hefe Weissbier for the road for that full Bavarian experience. Brotzeit's new Lunch Specials are available from Monday to Friday (except holidays), 11:00 am to 4:00 pm starting at P 265. Lunch? Meet you at Brotzeit...
