Thai cuisine offers one of the world's most unique and distinctive flavors with its unique blend of sweet, sour, salty and spicy notes all in one dish. Mango Tree highlights this wide range of flavors in their new dishes...
Mango Tree recently unveiled their new dishes at an exclusive preview with selected guests last May 29, 2018 featuring a flavorful line-up from starters to mains and desserts. Read on for a tasty peek at Mango Tree's new dishes...
Known for their authentic Thai cuisine, Mango Tree remains top-of-mind when it comes to Thai flavors at Bonifacio Global City (for more on Mango Tree, see my previous post, An Explosion of Flavors: The Thai Street Food Festival at Mango Tree). Cool down with Mango Tree's refreshing coolers to beat the heat with the Apple Calamansi Shake and Tropical Cooler...
...or, since its 5 pm somewhere in the world, why not have a cocktail? Mango Tree's Chili Mojito (P 250) with just a whisper of soothing heat, the sweet Mango Tree Bellini (P 250) and the refreshing Belvedere Mango Tango (P 250) are just what you need to open up your palate before the feast.
The use of the freshest ingredients ensure you get clean, honest and real flavors at Mango Tree, recreating the classic blend of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy Thai notes. Authenticity and freshness, that's what diners can expect at Mango Tree.
Thai Chef Prapun (L) of Mango Tree presented his new dishes at the preview, starting with the Thai Crispy Rice Crackers (P 280) with deep-fried rice crackers served with a creamy and savory dip made with coconut milk, shrimp, and chicken to kick-off our authentic Thai feast. And what a feast...
Our tasty preview began with Chef Prapun's intricate Prawns in Pandan (P 580), with plump marinated prawns wrapped in aromatic pandan leaves. As you delicately unwrap the pandan leaves, a fragrant aroma is released. The briny sweetness of the prawns come through, followed by complex layers of flavor from the various Thai spices.
The Tom Yum Chicken Wings (P 290), crisp and juicy chicken with flavorful tom yum powder, is another flavorful treat from Mango Tree's new menu. The textural contrasts from the juicy chicken capped by a lightly crisp outer layer delivers a savory richness followed by the familiar and mildly sour, tart and vibrant notes of tom yum. Topped with fresh herbs and lemon grass, the distinct Thai notes complements the chicken wings.
The savory Thai Pork Skewers (P 420) is another tempting treat with grilled marinated pork, cherry tomato, bell peppers, white onions, and pineapple served with sweet vinegar sauce. Perfectly grilled, the pork remains juicy with a lightly charred outer layer for smoky hints and intense flavors. The tart cherry tomatoes, sweet bell peppers and pineapple and the bite of the white onions complete the flavors. A dip in the special vinegar sauce cuts the richness of the dish, preparing your palate for another tasty bite. And another.
The Thai Chicken Skewers (P 420) is a tasty alternative with tender grilled marinated chunks of chicken, cherry tomato, bell peppers, white onions, and pineapple served with a sweet and tart chili vinegar sauce. The delicate notes of the juicy chicken are kicked up by the roasted skewered vegetables and perfectly finished by the vinegar dip. And if you prefer more heat, that green chili on the far end of the skewer should do the trick.
The Deep-Fried Prawns in Tamarind Sauce (P 580) with succulent prawns topped with garlic, chili and spring onions draped with a sweet tamarind sauce combines the fresh briny notes of the prawns with the tart sweetness of tamarind for another classic Thai blend of flavors. Elegantly plated, this one's a personal favorite.
For heartier appetites, the Mussaman Lamb Shank (P 850) with tender lamb, onion, potato, and peanuts covered in a rich mussaman curry sauce should satisfy any craving. Slow-braised for hours in a thick and rich curry sauce, the lamb shank just falls-off-the-bone lining your palate with its deep and bold flavors.
Then it's time to try the other dishes...
Grab a plate and load up with Prawns in Pandan, Fried Sea Bass in Tamarind Sauce (P 1,150), Phad Thai with Soft Shell Crab (P 550), Homok Seafood Curry (P 950), Tom Yum Chicken Wings, Thai Pork Skewers, and Thai Chicken Skewers and come back for more. The Fried Sea Bass in Tamarind Sauce elevates the usual fried fish dish with its rich flavors while the Phad Thai with Soft Shell Crab is a refreshing spin on a classic Thai favorite. The Homok Seafood Curry, usually served in a coconut shell, is another favorite. This will have you going for another bowl of steamed white rice.
For dessert, cap your Thai feast with the indulgent Sweet Cassava (P 220) drizzled with creamy coconut milk...
...or the Tub Tim Grob (P 250) with red ruby chestnuts and coconut ice cream for that perfect ending at Mango Tree. Familiar favorites and new dishes, you'll find it all here at Mango Tree.
