The unique one-day event held last September 24 featured noted Chef Fhred Batalona, a successful and passionate advocate of Filipino cuisine and culture in Melbourne, Australia. Chef Fhred's culinary journey began at an early age inspired by his mother Alma. This led the young chef to pursue higher education completing his studies in Culinary Management at the prestigious William Angliss Institute of Melbourne as well as stints at renowned restaurants like Sake and The Langham. 

But Chef Fhred's passion for Filipino cuisine could no longer be held back. Driven by his love for comforting and nostalgic Filipino dishes, Chef Fhred eventually set up his innovative and popular Barangay, a Filipino catering and pop-up restaurant earning him recognition and praise in various media like The Philippine Times and the Herald Sun as well as features on CNN and ABS-CBN. 


That day at Chef Laudico's Guevarra's, the celebrated Fil-Australian chef shared his inventive take inspired by the local culinary heritage to open up a whole new world of flavorful possibilities anchored on comfortingly familiar notes.
