Breakfast at Widus Hotel & Casino: Bring Home The Bacon. And Kimchi.

It was good to be back at the North's emerging metropolis. More and more, Clark in Pampanga is looking like the promised destination showcasing the very best with its modern and updated infrastructure and continuing development. Checking in at Widus Hotel & Casino, I was already looking forward to the sumptuous breakfast buffet at Salt Resto...

Breakfast was still a day away, but I already had breakfast on my mind the minute we arrived at Widus Hotel & Casino. My visit to Clark was for the AirAsia celebration as the World's Best Low-Cost Airline for the tenth consecutive year. That's ten in a row, and no small feat in the competitive commercial aviation industry (for more on AirAsia's grand celebration for its recognition as the World's Best Low-Cost Airline for the tenth straight year by Skytrax, see my post on my other travel blog at #WeAreAllChampions: AirAsia Remains The World's Best Low-Cost Airline For The Tenth Consecutive Year). Since my first visit to Widus Hotel & Casino four years ago (see my previous posts here at Upping the Ante Up North at Widus Hotel and Casino and on my other travel blog at Changing The Game Up North at Widus Hotel and Casino), it's good to see the property has kept its sparkle and maintained well over the years.

The impressive lobby remains as impressive as the first time I visited four years ago, and checking in was breeze. Known for its luxurious accommodations, Widus Hotel & Casino is also a popular dining destination with its international cuisine at Salt Resto, Prism Lounge, Malt Bar, and Peppers 21.

After just a few minutes, I was led to my room at Tower One...

And this was my home, at least for two days, in Clark. The spacious and elegant Two Bedroom Suite includes a luxuruous master's bedroom...

...with room to spare in a second bedroom within the same unit. Each bedroom has its own large screen LCD TV, just what you need to catch up on the latest news while relaxing on plush and velvety smooth linens. The skies remained grey as it has been for the last few days, but it really didn't matter. Not in a room like this. From Deluxe Twin to Junior Suite, One Bedroom Suite all the way to the Presidential Suite, and Executive Queen Room and Executive Double Room at Tower Two, Widus Hotel & Casino combines both luxury and comfort for a memorable stay in the Clark Freeport Zone.

Later that evening, we proceeded to nearby Midori Hotel and Casino for the grand AirAsia celebration (for more on Midori Hotel and Casino, see my post on my other travel blog, A Modern Urban Oasis: The New Midori Hotel and Casino at the Clark Freeport Zone...).

The evening's celebration was a colorful spectacle, something AirAsia is already pretty good at after receiving the title World's Best Low-Cost Airline for ten consecutive years. AirAsia's commitment to continuous innovation and enhanced passenger experience bears fruit once more with its tenth straight recognition by Skytrax (more on the grand celebration on my other travel blog at #WeAreAllChampions: AirAsia Remains The World's Best Low-Cost Airline For The Tenth Consecutive Year). I'm told work has already begun toward earning the much coveted recognition for the eleventh straight year. And with the vibrant energy and enthusiasm shown by the management teams and staff at AirAsia, I won't be surprised for another grand celebration sometime next year.

The celebrations continued well into the night, and why not, winning the title for ten straight years is a remarkable achievement any way you look at it. Back at Widus Hotel & Casino, a restful sleep after a long day was a welcome break. Early the next day, it was time for breakfast. At Salt Resto, hotel guests can enjoy a wide variety of sumptuous offerings with its extensive buffet selections (for more on Widus Hotel & Casino's Salt Resto, see my earlier posts, Flavors of Pampanga: A Culinary Journey of Flavors at Salt Resto and Flavors of Pampanga: Starting The Day Right At Salt Resto).

But I remember the crisp and extra wide slabs of bacon from my first visit four years ago...

...and it was great to be reacquainted again with an old favorite. Bacon, roasted tomatoes, Lyonnaise potatoes, soft and fluffy scrambled eggs and spicy kimchi, that's breakfast for me at Widus Hotel & Casino's Salt Resto. Bacon with kimchi, oddly enough, just seem to pair well together. And just like my first time some years back, starting the day at Salt Resto is always a pretty good idea at Widus Hotel & Casino...
