Primetime Dining at 22 Prime in Discovery Suites Manila

The setting sun leaves a golden afterglow inside the elegant space of 22 Prime. That's primetime dining at Discovery Suites Manila...


The spacious interiors with panoramic views of the Ortigas CBD and the setting sun becomes your backdrop to a memorable dining experience at 22 Prime in Discovery Suites Manila. Long known for their sumptuous and award-winning steaks, Executive Chef Gerwin Bailon recently showcased his popular dishes along with new creations at 22 Prime and Discovery Suites Manila becomes the perfect setting once more for an intimate feast.

And nothing beats a sunset view overlooking the city twenty-two floors above at 22 Prime in Discovery Suites Manila. Dinners are transformed at 22 Prime with the shifting light of the setting sun as the cityscape below slowly opens up with its own dazzling illumination. 


At the helm of 22 Prime's kitchen is Executive Chef Gerwin Bailon, weaving his own culinary style built around the finest ingredients and meticulous execution to classic cuisine. The steaks are always a sure bet at 22 Prime, but Chef Gerwin has a number of savory surprises too...


But first, some pre-dinner libations to open up the palate. 22 Prime offers Gin and Whiskey Nights from 6pm to 8pm with unlimited shots from their extensive whiskey and gin collection. The Gin list includes Beefeater, Tanqueray, London Hill, Suntory Sui, Bombay Sapphire and Larios 12 while the whiskey collection features Dewar's, Maker's Mark, Johnnie Walker Black Label, Chivas Regal, Jack Daniel's and Ballantine's.


Neat or on the rocks, the Gin and Whiskey Nights at 22 Prime is one good reason to come early. And just in time for the sunset too. 


Unlimited gin and whiskey is something you just don't pass up at 22 Prime. For only P 1,600++ net, enjoy your favorite gin and whiskey labels with a never empty glass from 6pm to 8pm before your sumptuous dinner at 22 Prime.


Our dinner began with Executive Chef Gerwin Bailon's tasty appetizers with the Sous Vide Octopus (P 395+), an elegantly plated dish with tender and succulent octopus laid on Paprika Puree and Tri-Color Quinoa topped with microgreens. The fresh and clean briny sweetness of the octopus drapes the palate with its lingering flavors followed by the silky smooth Paprika Puree with its subtle smoky hints. The Tri-Color Quinoa adds both flavors and textures with each bite to complete the dish. 


Next, Executive Chef Gerwin Bailon's hearty French Onion Soup (P 350+) capped with a crust of Gratinated Gruyere Cheese and Herbed Crostini brings familiar notes refined with an elegant touch. Each soothing sip warms the palate like a comforting hug with its savory richness. The boldly flavored broth with the caramelized sweetness of the onions is smoothened by the creamy and mildly sharp Gruyere for that contrasting yet delicately balanced finish.


An inventive seafood salad was served next. The Seared Tuna Loin (P 750+) with garden-fresh and crisp arugula, candied walnuts and sun-dried tomato pesto brings layers of flavors from the different components of the dish, coming together perfectly with each bite. The tart vinaigrette and sun-dried tomato pesto brings that subtle sharpness into play complemented by the candied walnuts and the fresh lightly seared tuna. It's dishes like this that remind you of 22 Prime's uncompromising commitment to the freshest premium ingredients delivering all the flavors. After all, freshness is flavor. 


For the main course, Executive Chef Gerwin Bailon served the house specialty with the USDA Ribeye Steak (P 2,600+) with Truffle Potato Puree, Mushrooms, Asparagus and Cherry Tomatoes. Perfectly grilled to medium rare with a juicy pink center, this is what 22 Prime is all about. 


Like butter, each slice and bite of the USDA Ribeye brings a beefy flavorful burst and another bite is soon on its way. The supporting cast of Truffle Potato PureeMushroomsAsparagus and Cherry Tomatoes completes the dish. They do steaks right at 22 Prime, as Executive Chef Gerwin Bailon returns to the kitchen to prepare the new dishes...


...starting with the Fish and Scallops (P 1,300+), a seafood duo of fresh Mahi-Mahi, premium Hokkaido Scallops, Grilled Corn Salsa and Caviar Sauce. The dish is exceptionally nuanced with its play on delicate flavors from the succulent seafood leaving fresh hints of briny sweetness on the palate. The elegant plating with intricate foam not only teases the eye but adds both flavor and texture to the dish. There's more to 22 Prime than its extensive selection of premium steaks, and the new dishes like the Fish and Scallops adds even more flavorful options to your dining experience 22 floors above the Ortigas CBD. 


The Spaghetti Prawns (P 1,100+) is an elevated version of the comforting staple with Jumbo Grilled Prawns on Saffron Spaghetti, Wilted Spinach, fresh Basil and Sun-Dried Tomatoes. Each noodle is evenly draped in rich saffron sauce with the fresh basil, wilted spinach and sun-dried tomatoes adding more layers of flavors. But it's the succulent Jumbo Grilled Prawns that makes this pasta dish stand out with its flavorful burst of briny and smoky sweetness from the grill. Love seafood and pasta? Then, the Spaghetti Prawns is for you. 


The Crispy Salmon Fillet (P 1,100+) is another tasty and delectable seafood option with Nori Potato Puree, Asparagus, Roasted Cauliflower and Wasabi Cream. The tender, melt-in-your-mouth and buttery salmon with its delicately crisp seared edges is a light yet satisfying meal option at 22 Prime, as the indulgent sides of Nori Potato PureeAsparagusRoasted Cauliflower and Wasabi Cream add even more flavor without overpowering the star of the dish. 


The Black Truffle Risotto (P 950+) is an appetite-busting dish with juicy Grilled Chicken Breast, Soft-Boiled Egg, Roasted Mushrooms, Truffle Sauce and Shaved Parmesan. From the richly seasoned grilled chicken breast to the deep, earthy and nutty notes of the black truffle sauce and roasted mushrooms, the rich play on flavors of the comforting Black Truffle Risotto are completed by the sharp hints of shaved Parmesan with the soft boiled egg as a finishing touch. This is one dish that's built on multiple layers of flavors from the different components, coming together seamlessly for another must-try option at 22 Prime.


For dessert, a decadent sampler of Salted Caramel Cheesecake (P 250+ per slice), Pecan Pie (P 375+ per slice) and Chocolate Marquise (P 375+ per slice) capped another memorable evening at 22 Prime. From their signature steaks and specialty dishes to tasty new creations, 22 Prime remains top-of-mind when it comes to dining destinations in Ortigas.
