Going meatless for Lent offers flavorful possibilities at Brotzeit...

Brotzeit launches an all-seafood menu just in time for Lent. From March to April this year, Brotzeit brings the day's freshest catch to your plate with its sumptuous Nordsee Wochen menu for the Lenten season. That means you can enjoy your refreshing brew this time paired with a season appropriate menu. Read on for a tasty peek of the seafood dishes for the season...

Known for their fresh and authentic Bavarian brews, Schweinshaxn and sausages, Brotzeit brings the ocean to your table with their seasonal Nordsee Wochen menu. Light and refreshing, the all-seafood selections offer a wide range of tasty options at Brotzeit. But first, a tall drink from the bar...

That day, we sampled the Schofferhofer Grapefruit Wheat Beer Mix. A refreshingly light and crisp wheat beer with the tart sweetness of grapefruit, the vibrant orange hues already provide a visual clue on the unique flavor profile of Schofferhofer. Who knew wheat beer and grapefruit would pair well together? And why wait for magic hour when you can enjoy #orangehour anytime with a bottle of ice-cold Schofferhofer. It's also the perfect summer tipple. Easy on the palate with a smooth finish, the pronounced notes of grapefruit complements the new seafood dishes at Brotzeit. And that's just one of many surprises at Brotzeit...

If you prefer a more traditional style beer, then the Radeberger should do the trick after just one sip. That sharp, mildly crisp bitter finish offers a more familiar profile for countless fans of the classic pilsner style. That refreshing sip followed by a silky smooth yet subtle burn and bite at the back of your throat will have you going for another. And it's no surprise too. Raderberger has 150 years of brewing experience tucked under its belt combining both tradition and a refined elegance with its pilsner, so enjoy a few rounds with this brew at Brotzeit.

After a few rounds, how about some starters? The Nordsee Wochen menu at Brotzeit includes succulent New Zealand mussels braised in butter, white wine and just a hint of heat from the fresh chili. The Geschmorte Muscheln (P 560) is served with crusty and crisp slices of baguette that's perfect with your favorite brew at Brotzeit.

The briny sweetness and clean flavors of the plump mussels comes through with each bite, followed by layers of creamy richness from the buttery sauce. And don't forget to dunk that baguette on the sauce for even more flavors.

The Raucherlachs Fladen (P 310) with smoked salmon, capers, rocket salad, mustard seeds and sour cream on a thin and crisp flatbread crust brings delicate and clean flavors with contrasting textures to the palate. Perfect for sharing with friends, this calls for another round...

The buttery richness of the smoked salmon is tempered by the sharp notes of the garden-fresh and crisp rocket, capers and mustard seeds smoothened by the sour cream and finished by the crispy flatbread. The freshness and quality of the ingredients delivers all the fresh notes in a rich weave of flavors and textural contrasts.

The Mojito Garnelen (P 680) is an indulgent seafood feast with prawns marinated in Mojito then grilled and served with fresh tomatoes and Mozzarella. The festive colors of the different components of the dish first feeds the eyes...

...before the palate. Like many of the previous seafood dishes, it's the freshness of the ingredients masterfully prepared that brings all the flavors in a seamless weave. From the fresh and briny notes of the prawns with hints of the Mojito marinade to the tomatoes and Mozzarella, the Mojito Garnelen is an impressive dish.

Delicately grilled, the plump prawns bring just a whisper of smoke from the grill for an added layer of flavor. The delicately nuanced flavors of the prawns are kicked up by the tartness of the cherry tomatoes while the Mozzarella gives this dish its creamy finish.

Seafood and pasta always works, and the Meeresfruchtenudeln (P 390) with salmon, shrimps and clams with tagliatelle coated with a buttery sauce just hits all the right notes.

The fresh medley of seafood combine for pure and uncluttered flavors complemented by the buttery sauce. It doesn't have to be complicated when you have fresh seafood and this simple yet flavorful pasta works.

If you love salmon, the Pochierte Lachs (P 420) is a good option. Imagine this, butter poached salmon on creamy risotto topped with fresh rocket. Yes? Absolutely.

The buttery notes of the salmon plays well with the creamy risotto for a light yet satisfying dish. The rocket adds that contrasting bite and texture and a squeeze of lemon just brings out even more flavor from the indulgent salmon.

Each dish from the Nordsee Wochen menu of Brotzeit highlights the freshness of the seafood, and the Pochierte Lachs is all flavor elegantly plated.

And there's more...

The Steckerlfisch (P 690) or roasted mackerel is a another simple yet flavorful seafood dish at Brotzeit. Served with crisp potato wedges, the distinctly rich and pronounced flavors of the mackerel come through tempered by the smoky hints from the grill. A fresh squeeze of lemon completes the dish.

After a sumptuous meal, indulge a bit with Brotzeit's legendary Hot Chocolate...

...and the Bayrische Créme with fresh strawberries for that sweet ending to a Lenten seafood feast at Brotzeit
