A Perfect CAB Lunch at Melo's

Where do you go for one of the best US Certified Angus Beef (CAB) steaks? You go to Melo's, the one that started it all, the Home of Certified Angus Beef. Established way back in 1997, Melo's continues a tradition built on excellent CAB steaks.

And a return to Melo's didn't disappoint. The melt-in-your mouth, buttery feel of premium beef, grilled to perfection, is an experience worth revisiting again and again. And the CAB Ribeye is tops on my list.

Melo's interiors evoke an old world, yet modern and contemporary vibe. A formal and elegant yet homey and casual feel. And you know the "ber" months are here, with some hints of Christmas providing some interesting table accents. Cool.

And as you slowly settle on your chair, one is drawn to the large picture windows framing a lush outdoor garden. Definitely a nice touch to complete one's experience at Melo's.

It was another cloudy day, but the sound of water has this calming and soothing effect, a prelude to good things to come.

Leo, our server, carves our ribeyes. I go for the standard 8 oz. cut, grilled medium rare. Melo's Certified Angus Beef are priced per ounce, and the ribeye goes for about P 168++ per ounce. Quite pricey, but definitely worth what it costs. Our steaks weighed in at 8.4 and 8.5 ounces, and looking at the steaks, I gave Leo a nod to proceed.

The premium Angus beef is best known for its generous marbling, resulting in one of the most tender beef cuts that simply melts in your mouth. Like butter. Fine grained, richly flavored, definitely a cut above.

Amazing colors and marbling, this is simply one beautiful piece of meat.

Our freshly carved Certified Angus Beef Ribeyes ready for grilling...

As we wait for the steaks, we were served Spanish Rolls. I've always felt that good bread is a safe gauge for the coming meal, at least an indicator of the establishment's commitment to quality. And these rolls are good.

Next came Melo's Soup of the Day, Cream of Mushroom. Rich, thick and really creamy, a perfect start. And then the serving carts arrive, revealing my medium rare 8.5 ounce Certified Angus Beef Ribeye, with a side of buttered vegetables.

Perfectly grilled, and amazingly tender, my fork did quick work with a middle incision. I know, I just couldn't resist doing an initial slice...

And after a few moments, the juices start coming out, and it's time to dive in...

...and be prepared to be blown away.

After 15 years, Melo's still remains one of the best places for US Certified Angus Beef.

You also get a choice of gravy, and I go for the mushroom sauce with sharp notes of pepper.

And that, right there, is a perfect CAB lunch. And if you really want to level up, Melo's offers premium Wagyu and USDA selections, as well as seafood and pasta dishes.

Excellent service, courteous staff, excellent food. As the Christmas season approaches, put Melo's on your list, perfect for family dinners or lunches. Or a perfect CAB lunch...

Melo's Home of Certified Angus Beef is located at # 58 Bohol Avenue, South Triangle, Quezon City or call 924-9124/924-9168 for inquiries.
