Grilling For The Weekend at Gyu-Kaku

It's the weekend, and it's time for grilling...

The table-top grills are ready and all fired-up for you for the weekend at Gyu-Kaku with a lavish Japanese-style feast (for more on Gyu-Kaku, see my previous post, Eat-All-You-Can Japanese BBQ at Gyu-Kaku, All-Day, Everyday...). Let's start grilling...

Start your feast with Gyu-Kaku's refreshing Tofu and Avocado Salad (P 395) with garden-fresh and creamy avocado and crisp lettuce tossed with tofu and drizzled with sweet sesame dressing. The avocado and nutty sesame dressing combine for rich yet light flavors, the perfect starter for a sumptuous grilled feast.

Infuse some some soothing heat to your meal with a Korean-inspired staple, the Ishiyaki Bibimbap (P 365/Large with Egg), a savory rice dish with minced chicken, seasoned vegetables, shredded dry seaweed and sesame seeds topped with egg and served on a sizzling hot stone bowl.

The sizzling sound and the fragrant aroma announces the arrival of your Ishiyaki Bibimbap (just inform the staff how spicy you want it). At the table, the staff mixes up your Ishiyaki Bibimbap before serving. The flavors are rich and vibrant, with just a layer of heat to complete the flavors.

The Spicy Karubi Ramen (P 495) is Gyu-Kaku's own take on a spicy beef ramen with stir-fried beef short ribs, noodles and spicy chili oil in a hearty and comforting beef broth. The tender beef, soft noodles and bold notes of the chili oil come together in a comforting blend, opening up your palate for the next dishes...

For the grill, go for the signature US Beef of Gyu-Kaku like the Harami (P 285 Small/P 395 Large), a tender and lean beef marinated in sweet tare sauce...

...and the Beef Tongue (P 385 Small/P 495 Large) simply seasoned with shio or salt with its fork-tender texture that's perfect for grilling.

It only takes a few minutes to grill the lean Harami on the fiery hot charcoal...

...and one flip completes the grilling. Keep an eye on the beef and don't overcook it on the grill or the beef will end up being chewy.

A few more seconds and your Harami is ready. The tender beef delivers a savory and beefy richness with every bite followed by the subtle sweetness of the tare, great as is or wrapped in crisp greens.

The tender, paper-thin slices of US Beef Tongue takes even fewer minutes to grill...

...slowly curling up from the intense heat of the charcoal.

With a light charred finish on the outer edges, it's ready. The deep, rounded yet delicate flavors of the US Beef Tongue drapes the palate with its richness, highlighted by the shio seasoning.

Load up the grill with the remaining beef...

...and your weekend comes to a flavorful high point. At Gyu-Kaku, where the table-top grills are waiting for you.

Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ Restaurant is located at Mid-Level, East Wing Shangri-La Mall, Mandaluyong City or call 631-7243 for inquiries and more information.
