Ever Tried a Balkan Burger?

The Pljeskavica is a Serbian grilled ground beef dish, lightly spiced, and usually served with potatoes. At Balkan Express, you can have a traditional Pljeskavica served as a burger, and believe me, it's pretty good.

And here's Balkan Express' Pljeskavica (P 180). Each order comes with French Fries, including a tartar sauce dip and catsup.

The beef patty is juicy and full of flavor, mildly spiced, and filled with diced onions. And the beef patty doesn't crumble as you bite into it, a sure sign of quality beef with no extenders. The burger is topped with lettuce and tomato and a rich tartar sauce that just completes the whole burger experience. The thick-cut fries add the finishing touches.

Balkan Express also bakes its own traditional Serbian bread, and its good. Soft yet firm, absorbing the patty's juices yet  doesn't fall apart.

Overall, it's a great burger, one that goes to my list of top burgers in the Metro. It's simple, no frills, without any fancy topping, just a good beef patty between fresh baked buns.

Owned by fellow Lasallian Marko Batricevic who once played basketball for the DLSU Green Archers, Balkan Express is a great spot to try authentic Serbian dishes. And business seems to be good, they now have a second branch in Makati. Way to go Marko, Animo!

Balkan Express is located at 87 Jose Abad Santos Street corner Mons Street, Little Baguio, San Juan City or call 33-00-945 for inquiries.

  1. I've noticed bread, then I found that it is made in house, which is always the best option. It does look very appetizing!
