A Weekend Staycation and Filipino Flavors for Lunch at Belmont Hotel Manila's Cafe Belmont

All set and ready for a weekend staycation...

...at Resorts World Manila's newest four-star hotel, the Belmont Manila Hotel. More than a business hotel, Belmont Hotel Manila redefines hotel luxury with an efficient and streamlined approach ideal for business travelers or those seeking a quick escape from the city. And a comforting lunch is the perfect way to jumpstart your weekend staycation at Belmont Hotel Manila.

The ten-storey modern structure is the fourth hotel property within Resorts World Manila, with 480 well-appointed rooms designed for the business traveler or tourists with long layovers between flights. Belmont Hotel is directly across Terminal 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (the construction of a pedestrian covered walkway from Terminal 3 directly to Belmont Hotel Manila makes it even more convenient, and walking to the airport will be much faster than taking a cab). Located inside the expansive entertainment complex with access to the property's malls, dining, and gaming facilities as well as the airport, you're in the middle of it all at Belmont Hotel Manila.

Accommodations include Superior Queen (L) and Twin (R) configurations with all the modern amenities and conveniences for a short or extended stay. The space-efficient interiors have everything you need whether you travel for business or leisure, a weekend staycation, or just passing through between flights.

As I settled down in my own room at Belmont Hotel Manila, it's little touches like the welcome fruit platter that make your stay a so much more special. A coffee making facility is also standard in all rooms, and a nice cup of coffee and last-minute notes and ultra-fast wi-fi activates your weekend staycation.

Each room at the Belmont Hotel Manila offers panoramic views of the resort complex, while my room high above at the 10th floor even featured the distant skyline of Makati. Start your weekend staycation with a relaxing swim at the rooftop swimming pool, with a kiddie pool, outdoor jacuzzi and a massage deck...

...or catch up on your daily fitness regimen at Belmont Hotel Manila's fully-equipped fitness center (L). Need to blow off some steam? Why not decompress at the hotel's Sauna and Steam Rooms (L), or go for a relaxing massage at the Spa all before lunch. Or you can do nothing, after all, it's a relaxing weekend staycation, and before you know it...
...it's time for lunch. Cafe Belmont is the hotel's all-day dining restaurant, serving breakfast daily from 6am to 10am and all-day dining from 11am to 11pm. At the helm of Cafe Belmont's kitchen is Chef Dean Manalo (R), a veteran with years of experience, and a native Capampangan, so you just know the food is going to be great.

Take Chef Dean Manalo's inventive Sinigang na Salmon Belly sa Miso (P 395), with chunks of creamy salmon battered and deep-fried to a perfectly light crispness.

To complete the dish, our courteous servers poured the sour and tart broth for the classic sinigang. The soft and creamy butter-like texture of the salmon delivers rich flavors, capped by the bold notes of the broth for balanced notes. It's comfortingly familiar yet refreshingly different.

Cafe Belmont's signature Kare-Kare (P 395), with fork-tender sirloin beef and local vegetables cooked and simmered in a thick peanut based stew paired with shrimp paste is another must-try dish at Cafe Belmont. You'll want some extra rice with this dish.

Every weekend staycation needs some pork love, and Cafe Belmont's Crispy Pata (P 760), does the trick. The deep-fried pork leg is tender and juicy, capped with a perfectly crisp layer of crackling, served with a soy-chili-onion sauce for that extra kick. Extra rice? Absolutely. The flavors are homey, comforting and real, adding a flavorful layer to a memorable weekend staycation at Belmont Hotel Manila. If you want to try something different, try Chef Dean Manalo's creative Belmont Burger (P 500 net), a sweet and savory burger with blueberry compote and cream cheese on premium beef patty topped with melted cheese, bacon, caramelized onions, and mushrooms in between purple blueberry buns served with a side of potato wedges and a Shirley Temple Mocktail.

Cap your feast with fresh fruits and strawberry ice cream...

...and a refreshing cup of Cafe Latte (P 150). Comforting local flavors, and your weekend staycation is off to a great start.

The attentive and courteous service by the staff made my dining experience at Cafe Belmont even more special. But there's more. The vibrant flavors of Southeast Asia are featured with Southeast Asian Night at Cafe Belmont, a buffet dinner highlighting regional flavors (more on my next post, Cafe Belmont's Southeast Asian Night ).

After a satisfying lunch, the afternoon is free for shopping and gaming at Resorts World Manila. You can leisurely walk to your next destination or board a cool ride, your choice.
