Dim Sum Daze

I remember watching a documentary on Dim Sum in Discovery Channel some years back, and I remember rushing to find the nearest dim sum joint after watching it. There are numerous choices for dim sum locally, from high-end establishments to affordable hole-in-the-wall restaurants, but back then, I decided to hit the first restaurant I find on the road. And something that's easy on the wallet. And now it hits you again...hello Causeway Seafood Restaurant.

Shark Fin Siomai (Shao Mai)

Preparing the condiments: Chili in Oil, soy sauce and Kalamansi (a sweet sour local lemon). The soy sauce and Kalamansi dipping sauce is uniquely Filipino, and goes great with the dim sum.
Steamed Siomai topped with crab roe. This steamed dumpling is filled with minced pork, shrimp and vegetables.
Steamed Tofu Skin Roll, filled with shrimp and vegetables and wrapped in tofu skin.
Steamed Prawn Dumpling (Hakaw or Ha Gau)

The deadly dim sum cart. You'll need a lot of self-control when this thing approaches your table. There's way too many choices and it's really easy to go on a dim sum frenzy! It's quite amazing to see the bamboo steamers stacked high, and peeking into the different dim sum varieties.
The remains of the day...
Four empty bamboo steamers later, I had another pot of tea to settle down. Dim Sum's supposed to be healthy anyway, so I'm not worried...no need for meds. For just P 292 bucks (or a little over $6), it's not bad,  not bad at all. This is definitely the place to binge on dim sum...now I just have to switch channels if ever they show that dim sum documentary next time. Or simply drive down to Causeway Seafood Restaurant.

Causeway Seafood Restaurant is located at 8th Acropolis Center, 53 E. Rodriguez (C5), Pasig City.

  11. Wow.. you got all that food for $6! What a fantastic deal for such delicious food! I think my favorite was the Steamed Tofu Skin Roll, with shrimp and vegetables. I think that one would be pretty healthy and low carb. I wish they have tofu skins/wrappers in the States.. I must go research this now. : )
