Jamaica goes for a 1-2-3 finish at the 200m Sprint. The US Women's Beach Volleyball Team completes a three-peat. The US Women's Football Team clinches a third straight gold. And Team USA Men's Basketball, who successfully defended their 2008 Olympics medal and a 2010 FIBA championship, wins a third straight international title. These and other amazing stories from a city that has hosted an Olympics event three times (1908, 1948 and 2012). Good things seem to come in threes, and I thought of having a little trifecta of my own...and with Mexico's stunning Olympic gold medal win over Brazil in football, going Mexican seemed appropriate.
B&T Mexican Kitchen has some of the best tacos in the metro, and I go for a trifecta with Carne Asada (steak), Carnitas (shredded pork) and Cabeza (ox mask) combo.
The Carnitas were tender and flavorful, and a great way to start the combo. Pour on some jalapeno sauce for a little heat, and it's game on...
...follow this with an alley-oop play with the Cabeza, another winner. The flavors and textures of the soft, almost melt-in-your-mouth ox mask blends well with the assorted vegetables. Nice. And finally...
... a slam dunk with the Carne Asada. Nothing like tender beef to end the game.
I got to sample a Torched Flauta with Carnitas, a cool twist on the usual grilled version. The "torched" parts of the flauta give it a nice crisp and flavor, another game changer. B&T Mexican Kitchen also offers fried flautas if you like it rich and crispy.
According to Philip, B&T Mexican Kitchen's owner, flautas allow you to taste more of the meat. I'm defintely going for another torched flauta soon, maybe with Lengua Salsa Verde or Tripas... or maybe shrimp...
Fresh, quality ingredients and hefty servings combine for a game winner, and the tacos don't disappoint.
Game winning combo. Cool.
Specialty cocktails are also served...very tempting.
So many choices, go and have your own winning combo at B&T Mexican Kitchen. It's a win-win thing.
The B&T Mexican Kitchen is located at 368 Sekai Center, Ortigas corner Madison Street, Greenhills or call 975-1850 for details.
