A Taste of Tung Lok Seafood at Gateway 2

What's the first dish that comes up when you think of Singaporean cuisine? Laksa, crispy fish skin with salted egg and Hainanese Chicken would be on that list. But I'm pretty sure Chili Crabs would be in the conversation and maybe even top any list . And when you're craving Singaporean Chinese cuisine in the metro, Tung Lok Seafood always pops up automatically. It's time to #CelebratewithTungLok...

Tung Lok Seafood is widely known for a number of dishes including their bestselling Chili Crabs that's almost mandatory for the complete dining experience at the enduring Singaporean institution. But Tung Lok Seafood has a number of other specialty dishes to add to your long and growing list. Now, let's take a closer look at the list...

Your search for Singaporean Chinese cuisine in Araneta City leads you to Gateway 2...

...where you'll find Tung Lok Seafood at the Upper Ground Level. Now with three locations including S Maison and GH Mall, you're never too far from authentic Singaporean Chinese cuisine. And sumptuous Chili Crabs (for more on Tung Lok Seafood, see my posts Experience A Unique And Authentic Blend Of Traditional And Contemporary Singaporean Chinese Cuisine At TungLok Signatures, Now Open At City of Dreams Manila from three years ago, Tung Lok Seafood: The Authentic Flavors of Singapore Finally Comes to Greenhills from last year and Let's Do Noods at Tung Lok Seafood from early this year).

From dim sum to savory chicken, beef, pork, vegetables and seafood mains, the extensive menu at Tung Lok Seafood is a virtual playlist of comforting Singaporean classics. Dim sum fresh off the steamers to start? Yes, please...

The juicy Steamed Beef Balls (P 270) are soft yet springy draping the palate with a savory richness with each bite...

...while the Pork Siu Mai (P 270) is just packed with flavor with its dense texture. You know it packed the moment you pick it up with your chopsticks with that weight and first bite delivering a flavorful burst of savory notes. It's familiar flavors like these that make Tung Lok Seafood a safe and guaranteed bet when it comes to Singaporean Chinese cuisine.

After some tasty dim sum bites, follow it up with a bowl of comforting Spinach Seafood Soup (P 280 Small/P 780 Medium) with its medley of seafood and thick yet silky smooth finish to tease and warm your palate. Your Tung Lok Seafood feast is slowly taking shape...

After a few more bites and sips, don't forget to order one more house specialty at Tung Lok Seafood. That crunch with delectably creamy and salty hints will have you going for more piece. And another. The Crispy Fish Skin with Salted Egg (P 490) is another Singaporean classic you'll find at Tung Lok Seafood, but be warned. Once you start with just one bite, you can't stop...

For the mains, Tung Lok Seafood presented a trio of savory dishes led by the Steamed Garlic Prawns with Sotanghon (P 1,180), a delicately nuanced seafood dish with fresh and clean notes highlighting the pure and natural flavors of the succulent prawns. Gently steamed, the nutty hints of garlic adds a flavorful depth to the briny sweetness of the prawns laid on soft glass noodles.

Spice up your feast with some vibrant heat with the Fire Cracker Chicken (P 600). Juicy and crisp bites of tender chicken, battered and deep fried and richly seasoned brings bold flavors followed by just a hint of lingering sharpness from the chilies.

The Stir-Fried Black Pepper Australian Beef Tenderloin (P 1,350) is one dish you can't pass up. Fork-tender with its near butter-like texture, the quality of the beef just shines with its clean flavors perfectly complemented by the black pepper for that balanced finish. One more bite and your looking for some rice...

...and Tung Lok Seafood has just what you need with the Black Garlic Rice (P 350/P 550/P 750). Moist, soft, fluffy and dense, the pronounced garlic hints adds a flavorful depth pairing well with the savory specialties of Tung Lok Seafood

Tung Lok Seafood also introduced one of their new dishes with the intricate Taro Garden, a soft and crisp taro basket filled with vegetables and nuts. The distinctive mildly sweet notes of taro along with its contrasting soft and crunchy textures combine for a delightfully surprising dish to your feast at Tung Lok Seafood

And then, the much anticipated moment finally arrives...

...as the Tung Lok Signature Chili Crab with Fried Mantou (Market Price) is served to your table. It's the dish that built the house of Tung Lok Seafood in Singapore, and remains its most popular item on the menu. The bright orange hues of its thick sauce tempts your eyes and palate. Pick up a soft and warm mantou and dip it in the sauce. Then, do it again before grabbing that claw...

You then instinctively reach for the claw before anyone noticed your mad dash to the plate of Chili Crabs. Sweet and succulent with just a whisper of gentle heat, this is why Tung Lok Seafood is at the top of your list.

For dessert, the Honeycomb Sponge Cake completes your feast at Tung Lok Seafood. Pillow soft and velvety, the Honeycomb Sponge Cake's moist texture and consistency is far from the usual for a whole new dessert experience. And not too sweet too.

Any conversation on Singaporean Chinese cuisine always ends up with Tung Lok Seafood. And their famous Chili Crabs. And more. This is your cue to #CelebratewithTungLok...
