Dining at Wolfgang's Steakhouse is always special. But when the man behind one of New York's iconic restaurants joins you at the table, an excellent steak dinner becomes even more memorable...
New York's Wolfgang's Steakhouse opens its third location in Manila at Bonifacio Global City on December 22, 2018 just in time for the holidays. Fancy a USDA prime dry-aged porterhouse this weekend? The staff at Wolfgang's Steakhouse in BGC will be expecting you...
At the preview of Wolfgang's Steakhouse a night before the December 22 soft-opening, guests were personally welcomed no less by Wolfgang Zwiener. The pristine white table linens and the impeccably dressed staff are just some of the trademarks of this fine dining establishment, warmed by the inspiring presence of the man...
...whose name greets every customer in all of their nineteen locations worldwide (for more on Wolfgang's Steakhouse, see my earlier post, Prime Rib Weekends and Porterhouse For Two At Wolfgang's Steakhouse). A head waiter for the famed Peter Luger of New York for more than four decades, Wolfgang Zwiener brings with him a wealth of experience and an uncompromising commitment to quality and service with the opening of his very first establishment in New York back in 2004. Take, for example, their special dry age boxes. Each location has their own dry aging facilities, and they continue to personally source and purchase premium beef for each of their restaurants. Dry-aged for at least 28 days, nothing is left to chance for the prized prime beef at Wolfgang's Steakhouse. It's about controlling all the variables and the little details that matter most, reflected and experienced in all their locations. But it's the personal touch of Wolfgang Zwiener that makes you feel so right at home the minute you enter his steakhouse, a trait passed on to his staff in every location. And that evening, Wolfgang's Steakhouse glowed with the warm and sincere smile of a New York legend...
Wolfgang Steakhouse boasts of an extensive wine selection and a fully stocked bar for handcrafted cocktails that's perfect before your steak dinner. Pair that with their fresh Fine de Claire Oysters on the Half Shell (market price) or Tuna Tartar Crostini (P 338) for some tasty bites...
...and ask the staff for their wine recommendations. The glass-enclosed temperature controlled shelves of fine wine are a prominent design element of the elegant interiors, contrasting with the stately dark wood and mahogany tones and leather accents of Wolfgang Steakhouse.
The personal service given to each customer at Wolfgang's Steakhouse has that comforting stamp of Wolfgang Zwiener, a culmination of forty years of experience gained from one of New York's finest dining institutions. As you settle in with your glass of wine, the first course is served...
The impressive Seafood Platter (market price) features an assortment of the day's premium catch including Maine lobster, succulent crab and plump jumbo shrimp on ice served with lemon and cocktail sauce. The freshness of the seafood is immediately evident from the very first bite of the Maine lobster and jumbo shrimp with an audible snap followed by a fresh and clean briny sweetness. The soft yet firm lumps of sweet crab meat laid on crisp lettuce will have you going for seconds.
The staff at Wolfgang's Steakhouse delicately serves up the Seafood Platter in true Wolfgang Steakhouse style. Other seafood appetizers include French Sturia Classic and Oscietra Caviar, Russian Beluga Caviar, Fresh Oysters and Crab Cakes.
The Sizzling Canadian Bacon (P 288/slice) is another popular starter, a thick and juicy pork slab with smoky notes, sliced by your table.
Have your veggies. The Beverly Hills Chopped Salad (P 618) with romaine lettuce, fresh baby spinach, green peas, carrots, cucumber, corn, red peppers, red cabbage, palm hearts and avocado topped with feta cheese is a refreshing starter before the mains, along with their classic Caesar Salad (P 588).
And when the finely balanced steak knife is laid on your table...
...it's time for the Wolfgang Steakhouse experience. The signature USDA Prime Dry-Aged Porterhouse (P 3,488 per 500g) is available in portions for two, three and four, perfectly grilled to medium with a juicy pink center. The presentation is classic Wolfgang's, sliced into thick and juicy slabs laid on its very own rich au jus.
Masterfully prepared and cooked in a 1,500-degree fahrenheit broiler, the lightly charred outer layer seals in all the juices and flavors for that savory richness coating your palate with every bite.
This is pure beef bliss, with just a little bite for that texture. And with beef this good, you don't need any sauce (you can try the housemade steak sauce, but this is really best enjoyed on its own).
Wolfgang Steakhouse also offers a variety of fresh seafood main dishes, like the Grilled Salmon (P 1,488) laid on fresh asparagus spears and served with a creamy sauce. Other seafood options include Grilled Yellowfin Tuna (P 1,188), Fish of the Day, and Jumbo Lobster (market price).
A piece of everything on the plate? No worries, the staff will serve you. It's the little details.
The USDA Prime Dry-Aged Ribeye Steak (P 6,688 per 900g) at Wolfgang Steakhouse has always been a personal favorite...
...with its even marbling making it tender with rich beefy notes. Top it with some au jus, and it really doesn't get better than this.
And don't pass up on the sides. Wolfgang Steakhouse also takes pride in their sumptuous sides. Pair your steak with their signature sides to complete your feast, like the Creamed Spinach (P 498, also available in Butter or Steamed), Sauteed or Steamed Broccoli (P 478), the German Potatoes (P 428)...
...and the Lobster Mac & Cheese (P 989), another personal favorite. Baked with four kinds of cheese and succulent chunks of lobster, the Lobster Mac & Cheese is as decadent as it sounds. Other starch and vegetable sides include Steak Fries (P 298), Cottage Fries (P 298), Mashed Potatoes (P 398), Jumbo Baked Potato (P 328), Steak Rice (P 488), Sauteed Onions (P 308), Onion Rings (P 308), Sauteed Mushrooms (P 748) and Green Peas and Onions (P 328).
Hearty American fare paired with gracious service, it's just the way Wolfgang Zwiener would have it.
And that Ribeye and Porterhouse are just something else. Seriously.
Cap your elegant steak dinner with the tempting New York Style Cheesecake (P 398), Key Lime Pie (P 328) with its bold and vibrant tartness and the sweet and nutty Pecan Pie (P 398) for that perfect ending...
...best paired with a creamy Cafe Latte (P 188). Make your plans for a sumptuous family dinner at Wolfgang's Steakhouse in their newest location for the holidays, you can also call and ask about their Christmas Special For Four for that ultimate steak feast.
Here's a toast to Wolfgang Zwiener and his family for bringing back a whole lot of class to the steakhouse. You can experience it too at Wolfgang's Steakhouse, now open at Bonifacio Global City.
Wolfgang's Steakhouse by Wolfgang Zwiener is located at the Lower Ground, One Bonifacio High Street, 28th Street corner 5th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City or call 586-4892 and 618-3975 for more information and inquiries.
