Not content with its domination of the music and entertainment scene as well as the culinary front, Korea unveils yet another savory sensation with its unique pizza creation. K-Pop, K-Drama, Korean barbecue and Korean fried chicken, add one more item on your list with the signature 10-inch pizza creations from the popular Korean chain Eat Pizza...
Who doesn't love a slice of pizza in all its varying forms, styles and renditions? Korea's Eat Pizza shares its own novel twist on the beloved pie with its own creative spin neatly packed in a special box. Simply slide open the box for a tasty bite of pure pizza goodness at Eat Pizza...
Located at the Cinema Hall of SM North Edsa, Eat Pizza from Korea introduces a new way of enjoying the popular global staple while cutting through the cluttered pizza market with its unusual 10-inch rectangular pies. The first of many branches with more planned in the pipeline, Eat Pizza aims to take a big piece of the proverbial pie with its distinctive style of pizza in a variety of flavors.
Thin and crisp NY style, Chicago style deep dish and Motor City's Detroit style are just some of the many renditions of the timeless staple. Eat Pizza shares its own version incorporating all the familiar elements we love from the delicately crisp edges to the sumptuous toppings generously layered with cheese in a 10-inch long rectangular pie.
Starting at only P 99 for the Classic Cheese and Sweet Milk variants to P 199 for the savory Beef Bulgogi, Hot & Spicy Bulgogi, Samgyeopsal and Korean Sausage, Eat Pizza promises an interesting flavor experience with a whole new way of enjoying pizza.
Each 10-inch pizza is made fresh as you order and the whole process provides an interesting glimpse at the magic and efficiency behind each crisp pizza at Eat Pizza using the freshest ingredients in the open kitchen...
...as anticipation builds with each freshly baked pan rolling out of the oven. That fragrant aroma teases your appetite but it gets better. Way better...
The hot freshly baked pizza are then transferred to the special rectangular box...
...where it receives the final finishing touches...
...from a variety of spices and seasonings...
...to that lavish drizzle of special sauce. Seeing the whole process is part of the experience at Eat Pizza in SM City North Edsa.
The finished pizza is then packed and served. You'll find traditional pizza expressions like the Classic Cheese and Pepperoni but Eat Pizza weaves in Korean notes for an exciting and even unexpected line-up of flavors like Sweet Corn Cheese, Sweet Potato, Samgyeopsal and Beef Bulgogi. Now pick a box and slide into pure pizza goodness...
I had my Sliders A Set (P 599) packed for take-out consisting of one Original, two Stan and one Hallyu variant with 1L of Iced Tea for a value-packed deal. From the Original menu, the Classic Cheese is an elegantly simple yet flavorful rendition of an enduring pizza variant. Almost like a Detroit style pizza with its thick and deep crust made from high-protein dough infused with olive oil, the crispness of the edges and the soft chewy center brings a delectable play on contrasting textures followed by the richness of the cheese. The 10-inch serving is also a convenient and personalized portion you can enjoy anytime and anywhere on the go. You can also opt for a unique sweet and savory combo with the Sweet Milk variant from the Original menu drizzled with condensed milk.
Pineapples in pizza can be a contentious subject, but Eat Pizza wings it perfectly with the Aloha from the Stan menu for another play on contrasting flavors. The sweet tartness of the fresh pineapples are elegantly smoothened by the luscious white sauce, sweet potato mousse, creamy and mildly sharp Mozzarella, sweet corn kernels and parsley flakes that will have you question your stand on the pineapple on pizza debate. I was honestly surprised with this one, and you'll soon find yourself going for another slice. Each distinct flavor just complements the other seamlessly.
Also from the Stan menu, the Pepperoni brings comfortingly familiar flavors to Eat Pizza's selection. The bold savory sharpness of the pepperoni are perfectly tempered by the creamy Mozzarella and nutty, buttery olive oil infused crust. The flavors of the pepperoni are kicked up by the special pizza sauce and parsley flakes. The toppings may be the undeniable star of the show, but the specialty crust at Eat Pizza deserves its share of the limelight. Dense with just the right bite and delicately crisp on the edges, the crust made from olive oil infused dough is the perfect base for Eat Pizza's creative flavor combos. Other options from the Stan menu include the Sweet Corn Cheese and Sweet Potato variants.
From the Hallyu menu, the Korean Sausage was highly recommended by the staff. One bite and I can see why. The explosive burst of flavors from the medley of cucumber pickle relish, bell peppers, fresh salsa and honey mustard conspire to tease your palate completed by the savory and juicy notes of the sausage with its fresh snap and the crisp crust for the perfect finish. There's a whole lot going on with the Korean Sausage, yet each flavorful note is complemented by the other for that fine balance. A generous dab of hot sauce completes the flavors. Other options in the Hallyu menu include the Beef Bulgogi, Hot & Spicy Bulgogi and Samgyeopsal.
The infusion of Korean flavors in an equally unique rectangular pizza form sets the offerings of Eat Pizza apart from the usual options. Definitely not your usual pizza but it has all the elements we love in a good pizza from the crispness of the crust to the wide variety of toppings. Could this be the next culinary sensation from Korea alongside samgyeopsal and Korean fried chicken? Absolutely. In the meantime, I'm grabbing another box and sliding into pure pizza goodness at Eat Pizza...
