For nearly two decades, the story of Azuthai Restaurant continues to shine as one of the few establishments recognized with the coveted ThaiSelect seal from the Royal Thai Government prominently positioning it high up in the local restaurant mainstream for authentic Thai cuisine. This year, Azuthai Restaurant raises the bar once more with an exquisite new menu...

...by Chef Leo Chaladdee. With more than eleven years of culinary experience, Chef Leo Chaladdee brings both traditional and contemporary renditions of Thai cuisine including a few pleasantly unexpected surprises to tease your palate. It's this play on both tradition and inspired interpretations that merits a visit to one of the metro's long-running Thai dining destinations.

From tasty bites to savory mains, Chef Leo Chaladdee offers a refreshed spin on Thai cuisine you won't find in any other local Thai restaurant. Different and creatively inventive while remaining true to its roots, Chef Leo Chaladdee offers an imaginative twist keeping Azuthai Restaurant well ahead in the local restaurant game. And if you're after the classics, you'll still find the popular staples like Tom Yum Goong, Pad Thai and many others on the menu. But let Chef Leo Chaladdee open up your palate with an impressive ensemble of tasty renditions...

But first, some soothing libations. And you can't go wrong with the creamy Thai Iced Tea of Azuthai Restaurant

Inspired by traditional Thai flavors, Chef Leo Chaladdee begins your flavorful culinary journey with the Miang Kham Traditional Thai Snack with ginger, galangal, lemongrass, red onion, peanuts, coconut, dry shrimp, chili, lime and dipping sauce wrapped in betel leaves. Prepare for a flavorful burst of contrasting notes and textures with each tasty bite followed by a subtle spicy kick...

...followed by the refreshingly clean and sweet briny notes of the Tuna Tartar or Pra Tuna with just a whisper of spicy hints made even richer with the medley of flavors from the mint leaves, shallots, kaffir lime and lemongrass on crisp garden-fresh lettuce.

The Crab and Fish Cake with Sweet Chili Dipping Sauce or Tod Man Pla Pu with succulent crab and fish and red curry paste brings delicate notes to the palate with the perfect bold finish from the sweet and mildly spicy dip. The delectable springy texture teases the palate, releasing fresh flavors with each tasty bite.

In between bites, enjoy fresh flavors with the Stir-Fried Baby Bok Choi or Pad Pak Bok Choi with Chinese mushroom with its lingering and subtle nutty sweetness.

Chef Leo Chaladdee then pulls all the stops with the Wagyu Beef and Tomato Salad or Yum Nuea Yaug, a light yet savory course with fork-tender grilled Wagyu Beef, tart tomatoes, onions and a lavish mix of Thai herbs. Sweet, sour and savory all in one bite, the richness of the Wagyu Beef is perfectly tempered by the fresh sharpness of the tomatoes and bite of the onions completed by the bold vinaigrette for that delicately balanced and nuanced finish. Chef Leo Chaladdee brings all the flavorful components together in a seamless weave with this inventive salad rendition.

Then, Chef Leo Chaladdee served up one of her creative renditions for a pasta dish with that distinctive Thai twist, the Creamy Tom Yum "Carbonara" or Tom Yung Haeng. Imagine the silky smooth and creamy finish of carbonara with that unexpected and bold flavor surprise. The day's fresh catch of plump prawns, squid and mussels draped in a thick tom yum cream sauce on soft yet firm fettucine is clearly another winner from Chef Leo Chaladdee's bag of culinary tricks.

The elegant flavors of premium seafood comes to the table with the Chilean Seabass with Sweet Fish Sauce or Pla Tod Nam Pla. Beautifully plated, the natural and delicate flavors of the deep-fried Chilean Seabass steak comes through complemented by the subtle sharpness of the sweet fish sauce without overpowering the main ingredient. Masterfully executed, the Chilean Seabass with Sweet Fish Sauce is light yet hearty for a meal in itself.

The ubiquitous krapow remains an enduring staple in Thai cuisine, but Chef Leo Chaladdee takes it up a notch with her Wagyu Beef Krapow or Ka Ta Ron Pad Ka Prow. How can you go wrong with premium Wagyu beef with crisp long beans, fiery chilies and sweet basil topped with egg? That's right, this is pure Wagyu beef goodness Thai style by Chef Leo Chaladdee high up on my list of personal picks.

Did you say extra rice? The Southern Style Chicken Rice or Khao Mok Kai with tender, juicy chicken, curry powder, turmeric, ginger, yogurt, sweet mint and chili sauce pairs well with many of the savory mains on the new menu. A generous dab of the sweet mint and chili sauce completes the flavors.

There's a comforting familiarity in Chef Leo Chaladdee's new menu drawing from the richness of Thai cuisine yet the renditions are refreshingly new offering an inspired take on Thai culinary tradition. And it works. And it's no surprise you'll find these exciting new dishes at one of the metro's pioneers in authentic Thai cuisine since 2008.

The much-awaited perfect sweet ending comes in a duo of indulgent desserts starting with the Buo Loy, a lavish dessert with Thai sweet rice balls and young coconut capped by decadent coconut ice cream...

...and the timeless Mango with Sticky Rice or Khao Niao Ma Muang with coconut cream and sticky rice. From starters to mains and dessert, Chef Leo Chaladdee brings authentic Thai flavors with an elegant spin and masterful execution. The continuing and evolving story of Azuthai Restaurant continues with a fresh new chapter to start the year built on enduring authenticity. And for the past eighteen years, you expect nothing less from the first local Thai restaurant recognized by the Thailand Ministry of Commerce with the coveted ThaiSelect seal of authenticity...
