There are bagels, then there's Booya Bagels. Chefs Aaron and Nikki Lau explores creative and even unexpected flavor possibilities with the classic NY Style bagel for refreshing savory and sweet bites...
Constantly pushing the boundaries of tradition with its NY Style Bagels, Chefs Aaron and Nikki Lau of Booya Bagels showcased their limited one time only creations last Valentine's with the savory Hella Pastrami and indulgent Strawberry Chocolate Bomb. That one day revealed just how versatile the NY style bagel is beyond the classic lox with a mandatory and generous schmear of cream cheese and onions. Curious about the Hella Pastrami and Strawberry Chocolate Bomb by Booya Bagels? Then, read on for a virtual bite...
Valentine's means a lot of things to different people, but leave it to Booya Bagels to change things up a bit. A DJ provided the beats setting the mood for a cool Brunch Wit Yo Boo at Booya Bagels with free flowing Hoegarden Rosé Raspberries and the Booty Call, a soothing and naughty spiked blend of refreshing strawberry basil soda. But the highlight of the day had to be the two new limited time offerings of Booya Bagels...
...redefining once more the timeless NY Style bagel with playfully inventive renditions that can only come from the creative duo of Chefs Aaron and Nikki Lau. Imagine a tall stack of house-cured and brined pastrami on a freshly baked bagel, and you get the picture. For sure, that's one bagel sandwich you won't find anywhere except at Booya Bagels even for just a day.
The impressive layers of fork-tender pastrami with onions, pickles and secret sauce in between a soft and dense bagel has to be one of the best creations yet from the kitchen of Booya Bagels. And no, Chefs Aaron and Nikki don't hold back on the pastrami with its generous stack piled high in each bagel sandwich. And that's the whole point of any pastrami sandwich, right?
Hold up the Hella Pastrami and take a closer look while resisting the urge to go for a big bite and you'll see just how serious Chefs Aaron and Nikki are with their version of another NY tradition. Perfectly brined with subtle smoky and peppery hints, the pastrami by Booya Bagels is legit. If you missed Valentine's at Booya Bagels, then you're just one of many wishing for the inclusion of the Hella Pastrami on the regular menu. And hopefully soon.
And for dessert, the Strawberry Chocolate Bomb is the ultimate bagel expression of indulgence with its decadent duo of crunchy Nutella and strawberry jam. One bite and an explosive sweetness with just a hint of tartness detonates on the palate.
The Nutella and strawberry jam combo is a potent pairing but Chef Aaron makes it even more interesting by adding a layer of crunch for that delectable play on textures. It's touches like this that always makes the bagel selections at Booya Bagels stand out from the usual.
Now with two locations located in both Makati and BGC, Booya Bagels hits the mainstream with its NY style bagels. The Hella Pastrami is in itself a bold statement in the local sandwich scene. Gauging the reactions of customers that day, this one's got the beef for a potential bestseller. Finally, the metro can now boast of real sandwiches in bagel form.
Which leaves many with just one question. When do we see the Hella Pastrami and Strawberry Chocolate Bomb on the menu at Booya Bagels? Hopefully soon. In the meantime, enjoy a soothing hot cup of Americano and ponder on the possibilities...
