From Sydney to Manila: Harry's Cafe de Wheels at S Maison

Sydney's iconic meat pies, pasties, and hotdogs comes to Manila...

Harry's Cafe de Wheels offers local diners a taste of Sydney's best with their comforting menu built on their popular hotdogs, meat pies, and pasties. And you can experience the flavors of Sydney's best at their newest branch in S Maison at Conrad Hotel in SM Mall of Asia.

What began as a humble caravan cafe located at the front gates of the Woolloomoloo naval dockyards back in 1945 has since grown to become one of Sydney's iconic foodie destinations. Founder Harry Edwards and his Harry's Cafe de Wheels would soon become popular household names built on "pies and peas".

And it's now here in Manila. Take home a box of Harry's Cafe de Wheels' signature savory and sweet pies, like their Original Classic Beef Pie (P 120), the traditional chunky lean beef pie with Harry's signature brown sauce; the Kings Cross Pie (P 120), with tender pork in smoky hickory sauce topped with Cheddar cheese and bacon; the Beef & Mushroom (P 120) with fresh button mushrooms; and the Chick N' Shroom (P 90) with chunks of tender chicken and mushroom in a rich cream sauce. Complete your flavor experience with Harry's sweet pies with their popular Blueberry Custard Tart (P 35) and the Cheesy Mango Pie (P 35).

And since you're already at Harry's Cafe de Wheels, why not stay for a quick meal while they prepare your take-out box of sweet and savory pies? Start with Harry's signature Onion Rings (P 65), with thick slices of crisp battered onions served with a creamy dip...

...and the Original Poutine (P 125) with fresh-cut potatoes topped with feta cheese, cheese sauce, and Harry's special brown gravy. Other poutine variants include the Poutine Chili Con (P 175), Chick 'N Barbie (P 150), and Stoked Fish (P 170). Sometimes, all you need is Harry's Chippy Chips (P 65) with thick potato wedges...

Pasta? Harry's Pasta Bowls (P 180) should satisfy any pasta craving, with comforting pasta dishes served on fresh sourdough bread bowls. The selection includes the Ratatouille Pasta, soft yet firm angel hair pasta with Harry's rich and flavorful ratatouille sauce; the Sausage Basil Pasta with creamy white sauce; and the Shrimp Pesto Salad combining the nutty notes of pesto with the clean briny flavors of plump shrimps.

Harry's Cafe de Wheels also offers a pair of comforting Bread Bowls, including the Smash'n Pumpk'n Soup (P 90), a rich and thick soup with nutty pumpkin puree and the Chunder Chowder (P 120), their version of the clam chowder. Pair it with Harry's Tiger Pie (P 220), with mushy peas mashed potato topped with gravy.

And that's just for starters. Time to go for their hotdogs. And since 1945, the gourmet sheep cased hotdogs at Harry's have been all-time favorites, including their Chili Dog (P 290), with Viennese smoked sheep-cased Frankfurt topped with homemade Chili and Sriracha...

...the Classic Hotdog (P 140) with cheese, tomato sauce, and caramelized onions...

...and the fully-loaded Hotdog De Wheels (P 290), with Chili, Sriracha, bell peppers, and caramelized onions. Each bite has a distinct and fresh snap, followed by the richly seasoned notes of the hotdog. The assorted toppings and the soft buns complete the flavors. At Harry's Cafe de Wheels, the hotdogs are longer than the buns, just the way it should be, and just the way I like it.

Not to be missed are Harry's signature rolls, like the Cold Chicken Roll (P 190), a hearty sandwich with seasoned chicken, crisp and fresh iceberg lettuce, and fresh tomatoes on a baked hard bun drizzled with Harry's signature sauces...

...and the savory Hot Roast Roll (P 240), with tender short plate steak, caramelized onions, and sweet and smoky bell peppers on a soft freshly baked roll. At Harry's Cafe de Wheels, you'll find their signature rolls generously topped and loaded with flavors, a quick and satisfying meal in itself.

You can also start your day right at Harry's Cafe de Wheels with their Chix & Waffle (P 160) with its fiery deep fried chicken served with crisp waffles drizzled with Harry's special honey syrup or go for their version of the local Tapsilog (R).

But if you want to start the day right in the proper Harry's way, the Bondi Brekkie (P 260) is the hands-down choice with its crisp yet soft waffles, signature Viennese smoked sheep-cased Frankfurt, Canadian Ham, two eggs, and a meat pie. Rich, hearty and comforting meals, Sydneysider style. And it's all here, from Sydney to Manila, at Harry's Caravan de Wheels.

Harry's Cafe de Wheels is located at 201 S Maison, Conrad Manila, Second Level, Seaside Boulevard corner Coral Way, SM Mall of Asia or call 805-6447 for inquiries.
