New Year, New Dishes...at Brotzeit.

It's a new year, time to raise a toast at Brotzeit and celebrate with a tempting array of new dishes...

Brotzeit welcomes the new year with exciting new dishes to pair with your favorite Paulaner Beer for endless rounds of good vibes. From tasty starters to savory mains, Brotzeit unveils a wide selection of hearty dishes guaranteed to be your new favorites at the only authentic German Bier Garden in the metro (for more on Brotzeit, see my earlier posts, Prost! Cheers to Endless Rounds of Good Vibes, It's Oktoberfest at Brotzeit! on their annual Oktoberfest celebrations, Breadtime Sandwiches at Brotzeit with Helmut, Dirk, Angela, Hasselhoff, Beethoven, Von Trapp and Reuben on their new sandwich offerings and Lass Uns Essen! The New Lunch Specials at Brotzeit).

The new dishes reflect Brotzeit's spin on prosperity for the new year inspired by traditional Bavarian cuisine. Executive Chef Ivan Maminta highlights authenticity in all his dishes at Brotzeit while infusing subtle touches of the Chinese new year vibe with his Sausage and Shrimp Dumplings and the Prosperity Platter.

Any dining experience at Brotzeit always begins with a glass of Paulaner beer.  From the Original Munchner Lager to the Dunkel Hefe Weissbier, Brotzeit lets you discover and experience the width and depth of Bavarian beer culture direct from the tap or bottle.

The Dunkel Hefe Weissbier Paulaner is my choice, a dark full-bodied beer from Munich. Made with roasted wheat malt, the rich chestnut brown hues with its naturally cloudy and unfiltered finish delivers robust notes with each sip pairing well with the wide selection of savory dishes. Let the feast begin, Brotzeit style...

That festive Chinese new year vibe takes the spotlight with Brotzeit's reinterpretation of crispy deep-fried wontons with the crunchy and savory baked Sausage and Shrimp Dumplings (P 420). Baked and not fried, Brotzeit's Sausage and Shrimp Dumplings isn't your usual greasy dumpling yet the flavors are bold and vibrant.

Generously stuffed with sausages, shrimps and pineapple for that hint of tart sweetness, the Sausage and Shrimp Dumplings deliver a savory richness capped by a lightly crisp texture. Dip your Sausage and Shrimp Dumpling into the thick and creamy Spicy Garlic Mustard Sauce for even richer flavors followed by a sip of Dunkel Hefe Weissbier and repeat.

Then, there's Brotzeit's other new appetizers like the Pulled Pork Croquette (P 190), a Bavarian style croquette stuffed with savory pulled pork and served with spicy garlic mustard sauce and the Bacon Onion Pie (P 350), a baked flaky shortbread with bacon and onion and served with a refreshing side of salad.

For the mains, Brotzeit's Chicken Supreme (P 490) is the perfect choice for a hearty meal. Juicy chicken topped with bacon and served on a bell pepper and potato casserole, each bite delivers a wide range of flavors from the delicate notes of the chicken to the sharp and smoky flavors of the bacon rounded out by the subtle sweetness of the bell peppers. This one's a meal in itself.

The Wild Mushroom Maultaschen (P 450) are savory pasta pockets stuffed with four kinds of nutty mushrooms drizzled with burnt butter infused with sage. Executive Chef Ivan Maminta then tops the pasta with crushed chicharon for a flavorful punch. The chewy ravioli and rich, earthy flavors of mushrooms makes this quite a hefty meal, elegantly finished by the sage infused burnt butter. The crunch of the chicharon adds both textural contrast and flavor.

The impressive Prosperity Platter (P 3,800) adds a festive vibe to any dining experience at Brotzeit, loaded with all of their Bavarian specialties. Your meal becomes a celebration with the massive Prosperity Platter. And why not? You have all your favorites at Brotzeit in one platter...

...like the Crispy Pork Knuckle...

...a variety of of Brotzeit's specialty Bavarian Sausages including the Meterwurst...

...and thick Grilled Pork Chops. Now that's a feast that just captures the prosperity vibe of the new year.

The Prosperity Platter comes with a side of Roasted Potatoes, Bacon Onion Pies, Black Truffle Sauce and Orange Vinaigrette and is good for 6-8 persons. Come over and celebrate the new year with endless rounds of Paulaner Beer paired with Brotzeit's new dishes...Prost!
