Midas Hotel & Casino: Something New at Every Turn

A once familiar landmark transformed, offering something new at every turn...

The iconic landmark is given new life in a perfect synthesis of the old and new, and Midas Hotel & Casino promises to surprise you with something new at every turn.

The original structure was designed by national artist Leandro Locsin for an international hotel, but the similarities with the original address and structure end there, becoming Manila's new style and luxury destination.

As you enter Midas Hotel & Casino's elegant and spacious lobby, the transformation is immediately evident, the first in a chain of surprises for a memorable experience at Midas Hotel & Casino. Designed by Cynthia and Ivy Almario, the bold use of white space and glass provide a dramatic backdrop topped by a modern fiber-optic chandelier to complete the cool and contemporary vibe. Splashes of bright orange add an element of fun, contrasting with the elegant white palette of the lobby.

Luxurious furniture designed by Philippe Starck and Poltrona Frau add a sophisticated and stylishly elegant feel, complementing the stark and predominantly white and light hues of the lobby.  White space and clean lines accentuated by occasional splashes of vibrant colors and modern furniture give the Midas Hotel & Casino's distinct lobby a modern yet calming feel, setting you up for more of Midas Hotel & Casino's many surprises.

Take another turn, and you'll find more of Philippe Starck's signature designs at the spacious lobby. Like a functional showcase, the various pieces allow you to have your very own space.

The stone walls and pillars of the original structure are retained as a visual reminder of a fabled past, layered with contemporary touches.

Have a refreshing cocktail or two at the 2702 Lobby Lounge for happy hour, or while enjoying some live music every Friday and Saturday.

The Sunset Lounge, located at the 9th floor, is exclusive to guests billeted at the Executive Floors. Enjoy your cocktails as you watch the setting sun on the majestic bay through the lounge's seamless panoramic windows.

Or just in case you want to watch your favorite sports programs with some friends, the Sunset Lounge also features flat screens for your enjoyment.

The Sunset Lounge also offers a complimentary spread of gourmet snacks and cocktails daily from from 4pm to 8pm, just in time for the Manila Bay sunset.

Egyptian cotton linen, plush goose-down mattresses, Crabtree & Evelyn or Bulgari toiletries, a flat screen and a view of the famed Manila Bay sunset combine for a relaxing and memorable stay at Midas Hotel & Casino.

Rooms at the executive floors (8th to 10th), also include your very own Ghost Chair by Philippe Starck. Now how cool is that?

And while at Midas Hotel & Casino, indulge at the Midas Cafe with its impressive selection of dishes. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, the Midas Cafe's extensive buffet spread is an experience in itself. Choose from several stations including the Pancake and Omelet Station for breakfast, congee and dimsum, pasta, steaks and the Prime Rib.

And no meal is complete without any of Midas Cafe's indulgent desserts. Craving Japanese? Check out Midas Hotel & Casino's Yanagi Japanese Restaurant in my succeeding post here at http://dude4food.blogspot.com/2014/03/inspired-japanese-cuisine-at-yanagi.html.
