Get Ready to Welcome Summer with the Old School Classic Pinoy Desserts from Max's Restaurant

When the scorching summer heat gets you down, just chill with the return of the Classic Pinoy Samalamig selection from Max's Restaurant...

Max's Restaurant brings back old school Pinoy desserts to welcome the arrival of summer, and just in time too. The enduring and iconic Filipino restaurant chain famous for its Sarap-to-the-Bones Fried Chicken celebrates summer with the return of its ice-cold treats, the Classic Pinoy Samalamig selection, for a sweet dose of nostalgia while beating the heat. From the house that fried chicken built, welcome summer with the Classic Ice Scramble, Halo-Halo Solo, Knickerbocker, Mais con Yelo and Ube Ice Scramble...

Since 1945, Max's Restaurant remains top-of-mind when it comes to comforting local flavors like their specialty Fried Chicken and other Filipino dishes warming both the palate and heart for memorable feasts (for more on Max's Restaurant, see my posts, Max's Chicken: Delivering Memories For The Last 76 Years featuring their Pancit Combilao from last year and After 71 years and Counting, Still Sarap to the Bones at Max's Restaurant from way back in 2016). And as we welcome summer in a new normal, Max's Restaurant introduces three new summer treats, the Classic Ice Scramble (P 79), Knickerbocker (P 99) and Ube Ice Scramble (P 79) to complement their existing duo of cool heat busters with the Mais con Yelo (P 99) and Halo-Halo Solo (P 109).

And when the summer heat hits the red line, you'll need a cool fix fast from Max's Restaurant's Classic Pinoy Samalamig selection. Each one is an equally tempting option, so order up a couple and chill with comforting and nostalgic flavors taking you back to countless childhood summers.

The Halo-Halo Solo and Mais con Yelo are all-time bestsellers and have been part of the menu at Max's Restaurant for quite some time. And these timeless classics remain my top picks not only during summer but year-round.

The Mais con Yelo and Halo-Halo Solo are your dependable treats to cool down during summer, and it just works all the time. The addition of the new Scramble series adds even more refreshing options to chill during summer.

That day, we sampled the Knickerbocker and Ube Ice Scramble along with the Mais con Yelo and Halo-Halo Solo and each one does the trick of cooling you down with an indulgent finish. The Knickerbocker is a fruitier version of the classic Halo-Halo Solo inspired by the popular iced dessert from down south in Zamboanga. The soothing iced blend includes fresh watermelon, mango, buko strings, gulaman and milk topped with Selecta's Strawberry Ice Cream and bits of Max's Restaurant's specialty Caramel Bar. Each soothing bite and sip brings contrasting notes and textures to cool you down...

...while the Scramble offers nostalgic flavors with its base of shaved ice, skimmed milk and sugar topped with colorful candy sprinkles, mini marshmallows and chocolate syrup that just takes you back to simpler times. Available in two variants, the Classic Scramble and Ube Scramble are throwbacks to the iced treats of childhood. And it still hits the spot, recreated at Max's Restaurant

While cooling down at Max's Restaurant, be sure to try the Ube-Cheese Turon (P 169) for another classic pairing with the Classic Pinoy Samalamig selection. Crisp and crunchy spring rolls filled with ube and cheese and topped with Selecta's Ube and Cheese Ice Cream, it's another winner from the house that fried chicken built.

Timeless, enduring, classic. Max's Restaurant has been part of countless milestones and celebrations for over 77 years, and continues to bring back fond memories with its nostalgic summer treats. Old school definitely still rules, and that's how we like it. The new normal may have changed the culinary landscape, but the flavors we love still reigns supreme at Max's Restaurant. The refreshing and indulgent Classic Pinoy Samalamig selection from Max's Restaurant is available for dine-in, take-out and delivery in all stores nationwide starting March 4. Ready to cool down for summer with a nostalgic twist? Then it's time for the Knickerbocker, Ice Scramble, Ube Ice Scramble, Classic Ice Scramble and Halo-Halo Solo at Max's Restaurant and beat the summer heat with your childhood treats.
