Let's Feast! Starting The Year Right With The Return Of The Gourmand Market

One of the metro's longest-running and celebrated high-end gourmet weekend markets returns once more showcasing the very best culinary offerings in 2019...

Trish Panlilio of nawwTy's Kitchen and Mulberry Door by nawwTy's Kitchen kicks-off the new year with the much anticipated first edition of The Gourmand Market on February 1 to 3 at Bonifacio High Street Central.  The sheer scale and wide variety of tasty offerings always makes each edition of The Gourmand Market special, and you can expect nothing less with this year's opening run (for more on The Gourmand Market, see my earlier posts, A Tasty and Flavorful Preview of The Gourmand Market from 2015, A Rhapsody of Flavors: The Gourmand Market Preview from 2016, An Outdoor Affair: Eat Well, Live Well At The Gourmand Market Preview from three years back and Sunday Afternoon at The Gourmand Market from last year). With 40 merchants for its first run of the new year, it's the perfect start for the new year and just in time too for Chinese New Year...

In collaboration with San Miguel Premium All Malt, San Miguel Super Dry and San Miguel Cerveza Negra, this year's edition of The Gourmand Market promises exciting new culinary finds and your all-time favorites in one place. At the preview, the indulgent 70% Single-Origin Chocolate Lava Cake from La Reve Patisserie (R)...

...along with their Almond 64% Dark Chocolate Cookies made with almond flour were instant favorites. Sourcing the finest local chocolate and using French techniques in their indulgent dessert creations, each lavish dessert from cookies to pies and cakes by La Reve Patisserie is an expression of refined decadence. The delicate yet indulgently rich textures of the 70% Single Origin Chocolate Lava Cake and the Almond 64% Dark Chocolate Cookies offer new flavor experiences...

...and you'll definitely hear even more good things from La Reve Patisserie soon (more on their FB Page at https://www.facebook.com/pastriesbyangelinasser/).

You can also expect international flavors, like the sweet, savory and flaky B'Stilla by The Moroccan Lady's Authentic Tagines. The mildly spiced chicken is blended with cinnamon and delicately wrapped in thin filo pastry sprinkled with fine powdered sugar delivering vibrant notes with each bite...

...and even more tasty nibbles like Mini Pita Sandwiches with richly seasoned chicken pate. The blend of spices don't overwhelm the palate, but one can taste the multiple layers of delicately balanced flavors. Spices, after all, are not one dimensional, it's the blend of contrasting notes coming together in a seamless blend that make the sweet and savory offerings from The Moroccan Lady's Authentic Tagines special.  And when you're craving for something sweet...

...The Moroccan Lady's tempting Almond Briwat glazed with honey should do the trick (more on The Moroccan Lady's Authentic Tagines on their FB Page at https://www.facebook.com/Authentic-Moroccan-cuisine-by-the-Moroccan-lady). Authentic Moroccan cuisine made with an authentic bend of spices adds to the colorful tapestry of flavors in this year's first edition of The Gourmand Market. The best of the metro, and the world, converge at the Gourmand Market.

Chuck's Deli, Home of the Slabwich, takes their inventive sandwich creations to The Gourmand Market...

...with their innovative Faking Duck, a savory sandwich with fork-tender and almost melt-in-your-mouth roast pork draped in sweet and tangy hoisin sauce, leeks, lettuce and crispy noodles for a delectable crunch...

...the classic Reuben Sandwich with homemade Angus Corned Beef, Emmenthal, sauerkraut and mustard...

...and the wittingly named Hamsome Threesome with mortadella and a duo of smoked cooked hams topped with Cheddar, Dijon, lettuce, tomato, cucumber and creamy garlic sauce (for more on Chuck's Deli, Home of the Slabwich, visit their FB Page at https://www.facebook.com/chucksdeliph/). If you're looking for savory meat stuffed between two slices of bread, the slabwiches at Chuck's Deli are the way to go. And you'll find them at The Gourmand Market.

Turning Japanese with your sudden cravings? Tori-ichi has that covered with their signature yakitori and fresh, handrolled maki and sushi...

...in a variety of flavorful options (for more on Tori-Ichi Yakitori, visit their FB Page at https://www.facebook.com/toriichiphilippines/).

Then, there's Trish Panlilio's nawwTy's Kitchen with her sumptuous line of elegant home-cooked dishes like the Crab Fat Paella topped with crunchy pork cracklings...

...and the popular Paella Negra with soft and fluffy rice simmered in rich squid ink and topped with succulent shrimps, squid and mussels. Served with her signature aioli sauce and fresh lemon wedges, each bite delivers a richness consistent with Trish Panlilio's unique culinary style which she describes as "Luxe Comfort Food" (for more on nawwTy's Kitchen and her sumptuous Luxe Comfort Food, see my earlier post, Luxe Comfort Food by nawwTy's Kitchen or visit their FB Page at https://www.facebook.com/nawwtyskitchen/). And that's just the proverbial tip of the iceberg. With over forty merchants at the very first edition of The Gourmand Market for 2019, it's a flavorful start to kick of your new year. See you at The Gourmand Market this weekend...
