An Outdoor Affair: Eat Well, Live Well at The Gourmand Market Preview

Eat well. Live well. It's the driving philosophy and mantra behind The Gourmand Market by nawwTy's Kitchen, now on its seventh run in almost two years...

The much awaited return of The Gourmand Market by nawwTy's Kitchen to Bonifacio High Street on July 22 to 24, 2016, was kicked-off by a special preview showcasing the metro's best gourmet finds. This year's edition, co-presented by Globe Platinum, along with Nestea and McCormick, showcases a wide range of artisanal product selections. Take a tasty sneak peek at The Gourmand Market by nawwTy's Kitchen...

Driven by a desire and appetite for originality and creativity, Trish Panlilio of nawwTy's Kitchen conceptualized The Gourmand Market offering a curated selection of the metro's finest gourmet products, and with partners Dara David-Roa and Dong Ronquilio, The Gourmand Market has grown into the highly anticipated gastronomic event (for more on The Gourmand Market, see my previous posts, A Rhapsody of Flavors at The Gourmand Market Preview early this year and A Tasty and Flavorful Preview of The Gourmand Market from late last year).

At the special preview, a variety of chilled beverages were displayed, including a refreshing Apple Iced Tea (L) and the crisp and mildly sweet Old Fashioned Ginger Ale (R) by Stanford & Shaw Brewing Co.

The Gourmand Market finally gets to meet Pedro, with their line of craft brews. The Procrastination Pale Ale, Endless Summer Wheat Ale, and Elementary, English Ale by Pedro Brewcrafters are a welcome addition to The Gourmand Market.

Pair your beverage with a tasty selection of artisan potato and camote chips in a variety of flavors...

...like BBQ, Bacon, Cheddar, Sour Cream, and Plain Salted variants by The Granary's Truly Home-Made Chips or THC. Sliced paper-thin for that perfect crispness, once you start on these chips, you can forget about going for that last bite, as you return for several refills.

Grab some hearty Breakfast Wraps by Lokanta.PH by Food Central, with gluten-free pita stuffed with savory fillings made from fresh organic ingredients like Longanisa Recado, Spicy Tuna, and Chicken. All the breakfast favors you love, in a convenient hand-held wrap.

It's always good to see familiar favorites from the previous editions of The Gourmand Market by nawwTy's Kitchen, like these classic English Pork Bangers on Swiss Rosti Potato Pancakes draped with sour cream by Sevilla & Sons Sausage Co.

The artisan sausages are handmade in small batches from traditional recipes and old-world techniques using the finest lean pork and natural ingredients. Simply pan-fry, grill, or pop it in a turbo broiler, these sausages are great as is paired with an ice-cold beer or with other dishes.

The Urban Feast shares its own novel take on the classic paella with their inventive Spaghetti Paella, draped in a rich seafood and chorizo sauce. Refreshingly different, but the comfortingly rustic flavors will make you come back for more.

Indulge in classic and traditional flavors in this year's edition of the The Gourmand Market by nawwTy's Kitchen with authentic Beef Biryani...

...and nawwTy's Kitchen's rustic Callos ala Madrilena, comfort food favorites. Cooked for hours, it's classic home-style cooking at The Gourmand Market.

The Baked Chicken Alfredo by nawwTy's Kitchen is another must-try dish at The Gourmand Market with a rich and creamy cheese and mushroom Alfredo sauce.

Pork love? Absolutely. Manila Belly's signature Bellychon will be part of this year's edition of The Gourmand Market too...

You can also enjoy your Bellychon from Manila Belly Korean-style stuffed with kimchi and served in their Korean Belly Bowl. Juicy pork and kimchi, works for me.

Cuban-style sandwiches? The Gourmand Market's got that covered too with Pepi Cubano and their sandwiches, like the Pan de Bistec with sirloin beef smothered with caramelized onions and shoestring potatoes, the Tito Choripan with chorizo jamonado and chimichurri sauce, and the signature sandwich, the Pepi Cubano with slow-roasted pork loin marinated with their secret sauce, smoky ham, pickles, and mustard.

Leave all the cooking to Xancho, and enjoy homestyle gourmet comfort to go. Xancho Gourmet Comfort Food To-Go's hearty Brisket, Short Ribs with Cardamom, Mushrooms and Beef Cheeks is just one of Xancho's many traditional, rustic and chef-inspired dishes offering classic, old-world flavors.

And slow food still rules. Slow-cooked for hours, the brisket, short ribs, and beef cheeks are fork-tender, almost melting in your mouth, releasing a burst of bold notes followed by the distinct hint of cardamom to complete the flavors. It's the kind of dish that not only satisfies the palate, but warms the soul, with all the flavors coming together after gently simmering for hours in low fire.

Xancho's Cajun Home-Fried Potatoes with Kielbasa and Hungarian Sausage is another comforting dish that makes any day so much better. Leave the cooking to Xancho, and bring home a tub or two of his signature dishes.

Leave the gun, take the cannoli. By this time, you're craving for a sweet fix, and you'll definitely have quite a number of sweet options like the tempting Cannoli from Cannoli & Co, with creamy Italian mascarpone and pistachios in a cocoa mansala shell drizzled with Hershey's chocolate ganache.

The Sticky Buns from Pastry Armoire is another indulgent find at The Gourmand Market, with soft and moist buns in a variety of flavors like Salted Caramel, Strawberry, Mocha Chocolate Chip, and Milo Dinosaur Sticky Buns.

At The Gourmand Market, discovering something new is always a sure bet, like these Brazilian Brigadeiros from Quisses, chocolate fudge balls made with condensed milk, cocoa, and butter. The bite-sized bonbon-like treats are rich and decadent, soft and chewy for that perfect sugar fix.

Available in Lemon Pie Quis, Corn Quis, Cheesecake Quis, Chocolate Quis, Coconut Quis, and even Polvoron Quis, the Brazilian Brigadeiros by Quisses may be the next big thing...

More sweet treats from Chef Sunshine Pengson's Gourmandaise were also featured, including her best-selling Chocolate Chip and Bacon Cookies. Chocolate Chip and bacon, can't go wrong with that.

After the meal, cleaning up is a breeze with Cusina Dishwashing Liquid, made with all-natural fruit and plant extracts.

At The Gourmand Market, the metro's best artisanal selections are matched with that distinct cool vibe to awaken and inspire all the senses. With new and returning merchants at The Gourmand Market, you can enjoy familiar favorites and discover new flavors, and experience the love for food and in turn, the love for life.
