Grab a Bowl of the New Mabo Dofu Donburi by Hanamaruken Ramen...

Hanamaruken Ramen brings yet another bowl of happiness to its menu...

Hanamaruken Ramen recently introduced the new Mabo Dofu Donburi to their menu offering a healthy yet flavorful option for a satisfying meal. Known for their specialty ramen including the Signature Happiness Ramen, Hanamaruken Ramen adds to their extensive donburi or rice bowl selection with the Mabo Dofu Donburi. Curious? Read on for the full lowdown on the latest savory donburi offering...

Located at Santolan Town Plaza, Hanamaruken Ramen now has seven locations in the metro including ATC, Estancia, Serendra, Trinoma, The Grove and UP Town Center. Hanamaruken Ramen has always been on my list since my first experience way back in 2014 (see my post here at Hanamaruken Ramen: Happiness in a Bowl) with their emphasis on excellent meat masterfully prepared and executed with each bowl. A subsidiary of a family run supplier of premium meats, it's no surprise then that the pork used in their ramen creations are of the highest quality. The latest donburi offering is a surprising twist to their pork-based dishes, a bowl with tofu in the lead role supported by a flavorful cast of other ingredients.

How a ramen chain known the world over for its pork would approach a bowl with tofu in the ead role becomes an interesting and even intriguing proposition. So step inside Hanamaruken Ramen and find out...

But first, some tasty bites from their popular Chicken Karaage (P 380/6 pcs). Served with a creamy dip and crunchy crackers, the Chicken Karaage is juicy and crisp delivering that delectable textural contrast with each big bite.

One of their popular "Small Plates," it's easy to see why. Richly seasoned, each juicy and crunchy bite delivers bold flavors draping the palate with solid savory notes.

A dab of the mayo-based dip smoothens the flavors with its creamy finish. And you're now ready for the new Mabo Dofu Donburi...

Inspired by the Chinese dish  mapo tofu, the Mabo Dofu Donburi (P 350) is the Japanese version laid on a bowl of rice for a meal in itself. With the same tofu as its main protein draped in a rich savory sauce layered with a lingering and soothing gentle heat, the Mabo Dofu Donburi is a refreshing alternative. And quite filling too.

Imagine soft silky tofu cubes slathered with a spicy yet fragrant aromatic sauce with ground pork and topped with spring onions, fried leeks and shredded pepper and sprinkled with sesame seeds over steamed Japanese rice. Hungry yet?

Soft inside with a firm and mildly chewy layer, the silky tofu cubes absorbs the richness of the sauce releasing intense notes with each bite. A savory sweetness followed by light salty hints drapes the palate rounded out by a gentle spice. The ground pork, spring onions, fried leeks and pepper completes the flavors. With rich layers of flavors, the Mabo Dofu Donburi may be just what you need for those days when you're looking for a fresh alternative.

From the sauce-draped tofu supported by a cast of fresh ingredients, this is one bowl that won't leave you dangling wanting more. The soft rice covered in sauce adds to the layers of flavors with the silky smooth and soft cubes of tofu completing the experience. Hanamaruken Ramen has another winner on their menu...

...so head on over to the branch nearest you and grab a bowl of Mabo Dofu Donburi
