The Bistro Group Food Crawl at Robinsons Magnolia Part 5: In a Spanish Mood at Las Flores

Hearty, traditional and soulful, Spanish flavors come to life at The Bistro Group's newest brand in its growing portfolio of unique restaurant concepts. It's a Spanish afternoon at Las Flores in Robinsons Magnolia...

The Bistro Group continues to build its impressive roster of dining concepts with the addition of Las Flores, a contemporary Spanish Tapas Restaurant and Cocktail Bar with branches at S Maison in Conrad Manila, Greenbelt, The Podium, Festival Mall, Uptown Bonifacio, Okada Manila, Makati's Legazpi Village and now at Robinsons Magnolia. It's the fifth stop in The Bistro Group Food Crawl at Robinsons Magnolia, read on and join the tour with a virtual taste of traditional Spanish flavors at Las Flores...

Located at the open Atrium area of Robinsons Magnolia within just a few steps of the other restaurant concepts of The Bistro Group, our food crawl began with fresh-baked doughnuts and coffee by Randy's Donuts followed by hearty Italian-American dishes at Italianni's, the specialty seafood selection of Fish & Co. and authentic Chinese cuisine at Modern Shang. More than anything, the The Bistro Group Food Crawl at Robinsons Magnolia showcased a variety of culinary styles and flavors reflecting the group's diverse portfolio of dining concepts. At Las Flores, traditional Spanish cuisine takes the spotlight...

...with its elegant interiors as the stage for a sumptuous Spanish-inspired afternoon. With both indoor and al fresco dining options, it's easy to be transported to Spain with just a few tasty bites of their specialty bite-sized tapas, pintxos and soothing sips from their equally wide selection of cocktails...

...prepared by the kitchen and bar of Las Flores. At the helm of the kitchen at Las Flores is veteran Spanish Chef Alfredo Rodriguez Sangrador with years of experience under his belt. A native of Madrid, Chef Alfredo honed his skills at various Michelin-starred establishments abroad promising an elegant and satisfying spin on Spanish cuisine at Las Flores.

And it's time to eat...

Our dining experience at Las Flores began with their intricate Salmon y Salmon (P 210-1 pc/P 835-4 pcs) from their Pintxos selection. Intricately laid on a crisp air baguette, the marinated salmon with dill, salmon roe, truffle and honey delivers rich flavorful bursts with each bite lingering on the palate.

Layer upon layer of luscious richness drapes the palate from the marinated salmon with subtle sharp hints from the dill, salmon roe, truffle and honey capped by the delicate crispness of the air baguette. One more bite and your Las Flores experience is off to a great start at The Bistro Group Food Crawl in Robinsons Magnolia.

The Bombas de la Barceloneta (P 385) brings savory bites with potatoes, Wagyu Beef, Salsa Brava and silky smooth aioli in a lightly crunchy ball. The rich beefy notes are smoothened by the potatoes, aioli and Salsa Brava for another must-try tapas dish at Las Flores.

If you plan to linger and stay a while at Las Flores in true Spanish style, make it a Dos Tapas (P 695) with Patatas Bravas and Bombas de la Barceloneta; the Tres Tapas (P 1,395) with Chipirones Andaluzza, Patatas Bravas and Bombas de la Barceloneta or the Cuatro Tapas (P 1,495) with Chipirones Andaluzza, Patatas Bravas, Bombas de la Barceloneta and Croquetas de Jamon Iberico. You can also go all-out and Make It A Fiesta (P 1,795) with the Patatas Bravas, Bombas de la Barceloneta, Grande Paella Verduras and a pitcher of Red Sangria.

After a few more bites and sips, you're ready for the main course at Las Flores. The Paella Pulpo (P 1,495) with tender octopus and creamy aioli on soft and fluffy rice sets the tone for a laid-back Spanish afternoon ...

...with succulent grilled octopus adding a vibrant briny sweetness with subtle smoky hints from the grill and dabs of aioli for a rich, silky smooth finish. The large grains are soft and moist, infused with all the richness of the toppings. Spanish afternoons are just meant to be enjoyed with paella...

...and Las Flores has the paella just for you. The wide selection of paella dishes include the vegetarian Paella Verduras (P 835), the Paella Negra (P 1,295), Paella Setas (P 1,495) with mushrooms, Paella Mariscos (P 1,495) with succulent seafood, Paella Pollo y Cerdo (P 1,395) with chicken, pork and green beans and Paella Cochinillo (P 1,995).

If you have that nagging craving for beef, the Solomillo de Ternera (P 1,975) should do the trick. Perfectly grilled to medium with a juicy pink center, the juicy beef tenderloin delivers robust savory notes pairing well with the soft yet delicately crisp potato-tatin and fresh French beans.

The Solomillo de Ternera may look simple but you get to enjoy premium beef in its purest, unrestrained yet uncomplicated form with the gratin of potatoes and French beans with a fresh snap completing the dish.

Elegantly plated, the Solomillo de Ternera is a feast for the eyes and palate. Las Flores has so much more to offer from its menu. And now that you know it's at Robinsons Magnolia, stop by for a laid-back Spanish afternoon with some appetizing bites and refreshing libations from the bar.

  1. Everything looks so delicious! Last summer I did a food tour in Galicia (Northern Spain) with my husband and we absolutely fell in love with Spanish food... specially octopus. I hadn't had it before and I loved it. So tasty!
